So basically, if I was able to vote, I wouldn't be able to vote to help other's rights because I'm not gay? The fuck kind of logic is that? Just because it won't affect me? What if, what if, I voted because I support those rights and I wanted to help those people get them?

I am married, and i get that say.
And as gay marriage doesn't exist (please, if you have to fight for it, it was never yours), you can keep telling yourself you are.
Whatever makes you believe otherwise.

Gay marriage does exist. Along with breeder marriage. People have to fight for it because the ignorance of others ant them barred from it because they don't fit the ignorant person's standards. By the looks of your comment, you fall under this category.

What about people who have homosexual siblings? They should be allowed to vote in favour of their families wedding. There are also people who aren't sure if they are gay or not.

OK, then. I see how it is. I can't possibly imagine an opinion for gay marriage when I'm a straight.

What about the gays who oppose gay marriage? What would you tell them? They likely have more insight than you into the matter. You're likely a straight who deserves as much of an opinion as I.

I don't know if I'm gay, but I do believe that just because your not gay, doesn't mean you shouldn't have a right to speak. I do believe that those who are against gay marriage have a right to speak as well, even if it is against your beliefs, because, in the end, we all have the right to speak our voice.
I do support gay marriage, and I'm pretty sure some people who aren't gay also support it.
And you say that just because they aren't being affected, they shouldn't vote. I believe that they are just fighting for you. You think it doesn't affect them, but it's just proving that they've lost another right if they can't fight for the right of gay marriage.
And also, when you say it doesn't affect them, it does, in many cases do so. A person has a family right?? So what if that person's gay, and they get bullied a lot. You think that their family won't be worried? Or sad? Or angry to hear about the school abuse? I think in some ways, it will affect them. So I do think that people have a right to speak, gay or not.
Just because it doesn't affect someone, doesn't mean they shouldn't care.

There's no such thing as 'rights'. They're a figment of our imagination. What we have are privileges that can be taken away by whoever has the so-called 'power'.

Gay marriage is a human right, the key word being human. Maybe you should change this stamp and your logic to something like 'Elephants voting on gay marriage is rediculous.' Now that's a statement I would agree with. Elephants can't even get married! Besides all that how in the world do you expect them to vote?! They don't have thumbs, they can't hold pens!

I love Canada so much. I've never been, but I want to. I've never really heard anything bad about them. They're like the sweet little kid who keeps to himself and doesn't want to stir up any trouble and anyone who meets him can't help but fall in love with him.

Nice logic of yours.

Ah, but animals have no way of voicing their opinions on matters that effect them and therefore it leaves us with the responsibility to represent them to the best of our abilities. If my cats and dogs could march down to the courthouse themselves and vote on topics that effect them directly, I would be making the same argument for them. That it's their life and their decision. I mean, all that's being asked is for gay couples to be allowed to have private marriages amongst their friends, families and loved ones. It's not like every single marriage between two men or two women is gonna be broadcast all over TV as breaking news and shoved down everyone's throats. So why do homophobes even care? Hell, I'm sure hundreds of people got married today and I'm not even aware of a single one, so what's the big deal? This is not a life changing thing except for the gay parties involved. That is why I don't see how it's logical to get everyone else involved.

Thing is, you live in a society. Laws concern EVERYONE, not just those who are directly affected by them. Believe it or not, some decisions are life changing to a society, and even if you can't tell it at first, it will eventually effect you.
Besides, this is a democracy, where every single person has the right to participate and vote according to their opinions. If you take that right away from people, what's going to happen to their freedom of thought and expression?
If you support gay marriage it's fine, but don't go around telling other people what they should or should not vote for.

The way I see it, fighting for gay rights is sorta like fighting for the rights of African Americans, or the rights for women. The point was to be accepted by the general public, and for that to happen, you must INCLUDE the general public. If only gays and lesbians voted on an amendment like this, the law would change, but the general prejudices would stay in place. To truly make a breakthrough, one must fight for a world where strait people WILL vote in favor of such an amendment, only then, will anything change for good.

True, although, just because the majority of the population now excepts blacks and women as equals doesn't mean everyone does. There are still racists and sexists in this world. I just don't think one group of people should have to wait around for another group of people to pull their heads out of their asses before they're given the rights they're entitled to. I mean this is just like the other two revolutions, so why is the other party even fighting the inevitable? History will repeat itself and gays will marry. Why are we even voting on this stuff in the first place? I know, we have to do everything all democratic and stuff, but it really just seems redundant and a waste of time. It's like taking bets on a game that's already ended. Pointless. I guess that's kind of what I'm driving at with this stamp. Not just that straight people shouldn't be able to vote on gay people's fate, but that it's pointless to even do so in the first place.

You're right, Denmark(or was it Norway....no, Denmark...I think) already has gay marriage, and so does England(or if not they are well on their way).
Just proves that America is slow....
