Paper cuts, they cut the deepest pain

But you can hardly see them.

Thank you for the comment, my friend.

Did I never mention that this causes me to recall the work of Moshe Kupferman - one of my favorite artists?

It's uniquely your own mark but threads in snippets of a common visual dialect I've seen in his work.

A perpetual favorite!

That's awesome, thank you, I was not aware of that artist.

hmmm...and where did this study lead?
i ...it feels like a one or no..3 level emotion...but i see...i..i wish i knew where it lead? can you say? it is like a tooth pulled out for a work but then is left alone. such morhine like pain is the act-and then..what?

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

lien In reply to 2xrayzerase [2008-10-26 14:43:57 +0000 UTC]

This one, like 'graze' is a sketch painting exploring an idea I would like to do on a much larger scale sometime.

some-thing-vague [2008-04-20 15:21:54 +0000 UTC]

The theme of self-harm in your work is very powerful.
From other's comments I am unsure whether you intended it or not, but what I see in your work is emancipation through pain.
It's great to see such emotive art without it being pretentious or saying too much.
Love it.

lien In reply to some-thing-vague [2008-04-21 09:48:17 +0000 UTC]

It is indeed very much intentional...but yes, I don't make it obvious, I prefer ambiguity.
I think (mostly, perhaps not in all cases) the only people who are going to really 'ick-up' on where I am going with the works concerning self-harm are those that do it/have done it, or those close to those who do.

Thank you so much for your comment...means a lot (always) for my work to be recognised in such a way as your comment reflects...much appreciated!
Thank you.

Amazing - such little information, but what I see keeps changing - foreground and background mixing!
I love it!

In its simplicity lives motion that makes it more real to an eye then any study of nature.

I am very fond of its sublimity.

I love the way the clusters to the right break the verticals. Behind them, I can sort of see a circle of negative space. These things combined with the horizon-like bisection give me the impression of a sunset seascape. Through reeds in the foreground? I dunno. Just the way I see it. But it's beautiful either way.
