Picked a bad day to try and figure out how the new dIFS Formulas work. Being hungover and needing some hair of the dog makes for a fuzzy brain. They're kinda limited in the fact that they can't be used with normal formulas except as a DE Combinate, they're pretty slow rendering too but they's pretty cool anyway. This one is a DE Combinate using Aexion1 as the Combinate formula and a hybrid of waveIFS/sphereIFS/HeightMapIFS.

Not really, they are only as complicated as you make them. I use the BFFI method (Brute Force and Freaking Ignorance)

Are you sure that it's so slow? Try to use less iters! and HeightMap should be iterated only once to work correctly

All the dIFS formulas in the Hybrid portion of the Combinate are a single iteration, only the Aexion1 has more than a single iteration
