This is indeed frightening, even nightmare-like. Those wide eyes, seeing both flesh and soul...they pierce. Amazing use of shadow and colour. The lack of facial features adds so much to it. That he does not look menacing but frightened himself is one of the most striking parts of this, as if there is something worse than this black soul. Really incredible, excellent work.
