From Botansai Town, the fourth Gym Leader of Dyrona, Dr. Herb, "Nature's Finest Medic!"

Dr. Herb is beloved by the residents of his hometown, especially the girls. It's unlikely "Herb" is his actual name, but just what he tells people to call him. Nobody seems to know what his real name is...unless it actually is "Herb", however unlikely that may be. Dr. Herb is modest and gentle, but he's also a bit of a daydreamer. He's an expert in herbal medicine, and he often leaves his gym to search for more herbs in the forest to bring back to town. Yes, it is thanks to him that there's a shop in town that sells those cheap, bitter healing items that no Pokemon wants to ingest. He hopes that one day he will discover a variety of healthy herb that Pokemon will actually like.

By the time you reach Botansai Town, Dr. Herb is nowhere to be found, which has sent most of the townsfolk into a panic. You'll have no choice but to move on until you acquire the HM Flash, because Dr. Herb is trapped in a particularly deep and dark area of the forest, with the only entrance being blocked by a Bricade. Once you defeat/capture the Bricade, Dr. Herb will wake up from his slumber (He was looking for herbs, got trapped, and eventually fell asleep) and head back to town. His Gym is an indoor hedge maze with a greenhouse ceiling. Certain sections of the hedges can be passed through, but these sections are visually indistinguishable from the solid sections, so you'll just have to feel around a bit. Those who best his Grass-types in battle will be rewarded with the Fragrance Badge and the TM "Scent Mixer", a move he himself was the first to discover.

His Pokemon are Frongus, Saguarita (Not revealed yet), and Amanura. Even for a Gym Leader, he doesn't have much variety; all of his Pokemon are Grass/Poison. Flying, Fire, Psychic, and Ice-type attacks will help in this battle. Still, you gotta be prepared for a few obstacles. Bring a few Antidotes, Awakenings, and Parlyz Heals, because his team will bombard you with moves like Stun Spore, Spore, and PoisonPowder. To make matters worse, his Pokemon can heal themselves with Mega Drain, Ingrain, and occasionally Scent Mixer.

Before battle: "Hm? Oh, hello again. Say, thanks again for helping me out back in Lichen Forest. To show my gratitude, I will give you the best battle within my ability!"

During battle: "Our Pokemon will need plenty of rest after this." "I can smell the tension in the air..." "It's almost like a dream... Is this even real?"

Defeated: "Okay, you got me. You've kept your Pokemon in adequate shape." "I must thank you for that battle. I haven't had an opponent like you in a long time. Still, my forte always has been and always will be healing, not battling. Ah, but enough about me. Here's your Fragrance Badge; try to keep it clean!" "Also, consider this a reward for, ahem, rescuing me. I don't mean to brag, but that move means a lot to me because I was the one who discovered it! When you use 'Scent Mixer', the effect is random. It can restore HP, cure status conditions, or raise Sp. Atk and Speed. Try it out, it's bound to save you at some point."

After battle: "It's no secret, but it still kind of shames me to admit that Pokemon don't like the taste of herbal medicine. As an herbalist, it's my goal in life to find an herb that all Pokemon will enjoy. That will make my profession feel so much more rewarding. I guess what I'm trying to say is, don't give up reaching for your goal, no matter how out-of-reach it may seem!"
