And he goes down!  Ok, so, funny story.  I hate the Lion King.  ^.~, so all those jokes are hilarious to me, because the similarity was totally unintentional, as unintentional as it was undeniable.  Yep, absolutely hated that thing.  I think the only character I liked at all was Rafiki, and I'm embarrassed by that fact to this day.

Right, so.  The Forward assault gets through Geryon (no, he's not dead.  They lack the means to actually kill that thing here and now, and they don't have the time with this kind of entrance to waste on the attempt), finding themselves before one of the many bridges over the Malebolge.  And here, I'm taking an implied shortcut.  Rather than play out issue after issue, going through every part of the circle of Malebolge to reach the depths where Valefar is, I'm juuuust going to leave them at the bridge leading into his realm.  It will avoid way too much repetition.

As a side note - for those familiar with the Inferno, yes.  The snakes are a call-back.  Thieves are beset upon by serpents constantly there.  And here we thought Sam's first death was the only reason she has a serious phobia about snakes.  Oh no, it's older and deeper ingrained than that.  It's, by implication, a sign that her greatest fears are tied to her father.

The lady? She has a name, Virt.

Nice work on that crouching pose in the last panel, man!

hehe, he's trying to be little polite I think.  ^_^, and thanks.  Pose assistance really helps with getting body posture right.  Without it, dynamic poses like that aren't possible for me.

Agreed. All artists problems can pretty much be chalked up to "Look at some effin reference!"

The first guardian is down! An early win for the heroes but I guess things will get more tough from here on!

Punishable by unconsciousness while the heroes go off and ignore you as irrelevant, again!

So that's where the phobia comes from

The phobia comes from a nascent fear of her father spawned both genetically, and also distant memories of being trapped in his palace, but also from the clear memory of being devoured by a lamia as her first death.  Let's just say... that's a pretty solid reinforcement to an already healthy fear.

So...whose going to cross the bridge of death first?

*smirks* Yeah, that's a boat.  Charon ferries it.  They kind of snuck in the back door of demise and are knocking on the pantry door of the deceased at this point, with a battering ram.
