Description The entry to Kirashtyn's Library. A scene that will eventually come up in Shifting Times.

Experimenting with Watercolors (base), pastels, ink, and ink washes on BFK Reives printmaking paper about 24X33". More fun with the "expressive line" style that I really got into this past semester.

amazing level of blending, it looks natural, which kinda seems like the opposite of what it should. Anyway great drawing!

Have a nice day!

Thanks for your wonderful comment! I enjoy working the contrast between the blended color and the sharp ink lines and strangely enough, it seems to work well together.

No problem, its beautiful work. and as for that technique, I have never tried it, and now I think I should.

Have a great weekend!

I don't know of anyone else who has done it either. If you do I'd love to see the results!

good to know, I will be sure to inform you if I do, its great to have a unique style, but sometimes its nice to know that it's not too unique. Or at least for me anyway

Thanks!

Indeed, it's not easy breaking into new waters. There's really nothing to compare it to, which can make it difficult to decide what is "right" or not.

No problem, well I did try to do that style, though I did fail horribly it was only a first try. No big deal anyway,

Have a great weekend!

Heaven forbid we be required to succeed the first time at everything *grin.* Maybe I should note that I used Sumi-e (sp?) brushes to apply both the ink and the washes. Sometimes the brush will pick up pastel instead of laying down ink, but you just have to add more ink and do the stroke again. Using something like a ball-point or quill pen would probably be disastrous.

Agreed, also, that is what I tried to do. Well it was sort of a disaster, but it could have been much worse.

Well, good luck with future attempts and I'd love to see the results (disaster or success!).

I really enjoy working this way. I need to get another series going in this style like I did over the semester.
