Description Before this year ends, I wanted to do a little study to see how much my art has improved over the past four months, and how fast I can illustrate now.

I wanted to do a concept I like a lot, and I chose alien life, although it does take aspiration from Dark Matter from Kirby.

Took me 50 minutes using my Wacom tablet, and Adobe Photoshop CC.

Happy New Years!

I like it especially with the use of colour and the reflection on the pupil
The hazy blue background is also nice.

Looking forward to your future work

Buddy, I just checked your page, your so called "Artworks" are chicken scratch, if you were a real artist giving me apt commentary, then I would of accepted anything you dished out on me, but as for you?

Bugger off troll, or I'll report you.

yep, just got roasted by a 20-something year old who draws like a 12 year old weeaboo. If what I do is "Artwork", then what even is yours kiddo?

Can you at least tell me why it's bad? This is what I really hate about Deviantart, it's either "Oh it's good!" or "Oh it's bad!".

Look, I'm trying to improve, I've been using digital media for less than four months, I still have a lot to learn, so if you find that my art sucks, can you please tell me why so I can fix these errors in the future??!!

Well I've read some of your review and you seems to give a lot of advice without applying any of it , so here's "my" advice for you that you could apply to all the characters I've seen in your gallery :

" Oh dear lord where do I begin.

The concept would have been interesting if it wasn't for too many things :

1- Your line art is very lazy: The line art looks very rushed, especially in the lower section of the body, get this: If the line art is bad then the whole thing will look bad.

2- Your sense of body proportion is very poor...

4- Very, very poor coloring, and your attempt at shading has made the colors look very dirty which is a sign of laziness.

Overall: You need a lot of work, and practice before you submit, and keep in mind that art isn't magic and all the good artists out there made their work via patience, you must take your time with every single detail. "

I mean you say it all so why not doing it ? The last sentence is exactly what I was thinking after seing your gallery ( well except the "every single detail thing "  cuz with your actual skills bothering with details would be a huge waste of time, and I'm not saying that to be mean ,it's just that it wouldn't do any good to your drawings ).

Ok , now to some specific advice that might actually help you :

- first off try drawing from real life ,  with an actual pen , not on digital . Seriously go outside and draw the people, the streets ... ANything you can see ! Real life drawing is THE way to progress in drawing , so go ahead and get at it already ! ( maybe begin with some still life , it would be easier at first).

- If you want to work on color and light/shadow (on digital ) try to firstly work with grey shades (and then eventually colors), it will help you grab the way light work in a composition ( seriously it helps a lot ) . You can also work with wash drawing with regular indian ink to work on light/shadow.

- You can also try working from photography , it's not as effective as real life drawing , but it can give you more varied models without even living home ! Ain't that neat...

-If you wanna keep doing this type of drawing on digital , don't overuse the "smooth brushes ", it look really flat and blurry when there's too much of it in a painting. Work with hard brushes , looks way better ( a little tip : if you wanna do a background, draw it at first with hard brushes and then apply a gaussian blur on the area you want blurred) . Also don't put to much detail in the background or the uninteresting part , cuz the eye will naturally go to the more detailed area of a drawing , keep it for the main focus .

- Just stop drawing in an "anime style" , you'll learn nothing from it, try finding your own way of making a face , an eye ... ect ...  Try developing your style by getting inspired by real life , not some already existing style ( especially if it's bad ).

- And at last : draw for yourself and not for getting comments and appreciation on deviant art .

well that's about it , but since I know you won't do anything of what I've written and you'll just keep on drawing terrible anime lady faces and stupid fan art I'll just go ahead and go fuck myself .

..... Wow... Um, okay, I've read this several times now and um:

- I'll try to draw people now... In well less crowded places, drawing in public might raise some questions over what I'm doing, but I'll do this whenever it is possible from now on.

- After I read this, I tried the grey shades tip, things don't look great, but they look far better than before, at least the colors look more natural now, I'll keep trying.

- .... Yes I do rely on soft brushes, and I've yet to even use hard brushes, I'll try to take this one rather slowly till I get the hang of using them without making the colors look messy.

- Recently I've stopped the anime style, I realize that it's the worst mistake I've made, I'm trying to go for a more toony style new ones keep looking better than the previous so I decided to stick with it.

- No, and believe me when I'm saying this, I'm not here for comments and appreciation. I use up whatever free time I have every nearly everyday drawing via tablet since September just so I won't think of how unhappy I am, so yeah this is more of a release than anything else, but I want to make it better, so that I may actually feel better about myself.

- I'm doing something about it right now, heck I'm beginning with replying to every note you've left me, and unless in terms of parody, I'll never draw anime style again, they are too confusing.

Thank you very much for your reply, really I appreciate it, thank you.

Well that's a suprisingly mature answer , I mean people usually get frustrated and just stop writing after being criticize. Well then good luck with your drawings and keep on working
