Hmm, there's a lot I want to say about this piece.
It's based off a Bengali song (poem?) written by the Nobel Prize winning poet, Rabindranath Tagore.
It's called: "যদি তোর ডাক শুনে কেউ না আসে." In Bengali romanization, "Jodi tor đak shune keu na ashe."
Translated, it means something along the lines of...*tries to word it* "If no one comes to the your call," I think!
It's usually shortened to "Ekla Cholo Re" which means "Walk Alone" (একলা চলো রে).

So, what /about/ the poem? You may ask.
I do Indian classical dance, but I dance contemporary too with my dance group. We performed a choreographed piece to this song in honor of Tagore's 100th birthday. Or was is anniversary? Something along those lines.
So, that was the first time I heard it. I fell in love with it. It...it's hard to explain. In its language (Bengali), it has such moving and touching words! It's been two months since my group performed it, and I still admire the song very much. I've been meaning to do this for like, a while.

The phrase in the picture is the famous phrase from the song, "যদি তোর ডাক শুনে কেউ না আসে তবে একলা চলো রে", which means "If no one answers to your call, walk on alone." My mother says it was used during the rebellion against Britain, and wikipedia says it's often used for political and social change movements.
This also has to do with Hetalia, since, obviously, the woman in the picture is my original character, India. (: Her name is Arata Arajyam! Since she represents the country, I put her here.<3
Of course, I put the Indian flag here! I am especially proud of how it came out. I love it so much! I had a conversation with about the colours of the flag, and what it means.
The orange is supposed to represent sacrifice and courage,
The white is supposed to be truth and peace,
And the green represents enthusiasm for life (as my mother says), chivalry, and faith.
The twenty four blue spokes in the blue circle (Which, if I may say, took an ESPECIALLY long time since I needed to make them equally spaced--which still didn't happen! I'm not totally satisfied with the way it came out but it looks awesome to me~ ; u ; ) is supposed to be Ashoka Chakra, which represents the twenty four hours of devotion, I think.
Now hetalia wise, I really feel like it sums up everything I tried to express in my character, Arata.

So the song is, according to wikipedia, supposed to make "the listener...continue his or her journey, despite abandonment or lack of support from others." Basically, stand up for what you believe in, never give up your voice just because no one with with you. The moral is what I fell in love with. So many experiences has happened to me that I can relate to this poem.

I er, really love this artwork a lot. Is that bad? Um, please tell me what I can do better. Though this is nice in my mind, I want to improve!
