Story: Valka was the lead stallion of a small herd and was deeply in love with the lead mare, a chestnut blanket appaloosa, who had given birth to their first foal only months before his death and subsequent entrance to the Wraith world. Days before this event a renegade mare had came to his herdlands, bearing a warning for the stallion: a large brute of a stallion with an already large herd was headed for Valka's small one. Valka knew he couldn't win but he couldn't back down and let his family down, he had to fight. And in this mindset he set out to meet the intruder halfway, not wanting his daughter to be witness to his fall. Under the half-dark of falling twilight the stallion came into sight, ready for battle, having scented Valka in the wind and leaving his herd a ways away. The battle was rough; Valka wasn't a huge horse and the sorrel challenger was humongous as well as more experienced in the art of battle. Valka fought until the very end, never giving up, never losing sight of his purpose, but even with all of that he could not win. The sorrel's hoofbeats and those in his herd pounded away, farther and farther from the near lifeless body closer and closer to his loved ones. "Mmmm... I can't wait to see the others he fought so hard to keep me from". The wind carried the stallions voice to Valka as he tried to move only to find that he couldn't. He was paralyzed. With laboured breath and blood pooling from his wounds Valka lied at the gates of Death in the now complete darkness of the new moon.Just as he was about to cross into the blessed darkness a horse appeared, a stone glowing in his chest, but other than that Valka's worn out mind couldn't distinguish anything. But the voice that came from that body offered him something he couldn't resist. His loved ones would never have to be with that wretched stallion. Anything that he could promise would be worth it if they were safe.
