Description "...I'll escape from Hellview."

My 'sketch' for the mini-contest on #soulwraiths . Valka won my poll-thingy, and the most tempting story to go with would be his return after his long stay in the Void, having been taken by the Reapers.

There was no sense of time in the Void. If you didn't know exactly where you were in relation to the exit, there was no hope. Valka had been there for what had seemed like many eternities, and he was more than pleased to return to the Shadowlands. To return Home. He never thought that word would apply to the Shadowlands. He'd had such a hard time adjusting to his second life he had never really thought much of it. But, after being alone so long,he could no longer deny where he was now, who he was now.

As soon as he had been freed and said the appropriate thank-yous and other such pleasantries. Once that was done, he limped away, then, soon as he was out of sight, he charged, not caring where he was going, ignoring all aches and pains. Once he stopped to get his bearings, he realized where he was. The Valley of the End. He'd been through here before, but had never stayed long. The place seemed to echo with the sorrow of the passed Wraiths, in his mind, at least. This time, however, he didn't feel that echo of tragedy, but rather a sense of relief that he was not amongst the fallen. He had been in the complete darkness and had no wish to stay there. Nearly as soon as that thought had crossed his mind, the sun fell into that perfect position that set all the heartstones glowing, surrounding the rabicano stallion in a myriad of colored auras. Valka admired the glowing stones, and his own amethyst stone was giving off a glow of its own. He was happy, despite the fact that he was battered, exhausted, and his left hindleg wasn't working right.

The glow of his stone faded somewhat as another thought slipped into his head. He was happy now, sure, but what about in the future? He accepted what and where he was now, but what about who he was? Before his imprisonment, he had been rather depressed, keeping everyone at arms length. He stayed on the fringe of the herd, and there were some he could call acquaintances, though there were none he could truly call a friend. He had no one to celebrate his return with, no one to tell about his epiphany. Grief such as he had not felt since his great failure and subsequent death crushed him, his heartstone immediately ceasing to give off light. The physical pains he had been ignoring moments ago came back with a vengeance. Valka lowered himself to the ground, careful of his injuries, then ducked his head, eyes closed.
