Description
I'm creating a world called Sol and this world has many lands with many races. One of the Elven races is the residents of Dusk'rah called Night Elves. This is their short bio, I'll be making one of these for all of my races.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Β Often noted as being one of the harshest, dreariest, and dingy lands in all of Sol and maybe beyond, Dusk'rah, the large province on the Northeastern corner of Sol, has been host to only one known culture in its history: the Night Elves. This grainy land is best characterized by chilly weather and baron wastelands. Its more mountainous regions give way to river basins and ancient ruins left by civilizations long forgotten. Dotting its landscape are expertly carved out caverns and architecture as far as the eye can see.
The Night Elves, the race of Elves who were exiled from their original homeland of Svaelyn for committing the capital offense of Kubarian worship which is punishable by death on the Isles. They are unique among the mortal races because they are the only race we know of that are nocturnal, sleeping through day and active during the night hours which lends them the name Night Elves. In appearance they have kept most features physical wise but their eyes have eventually gotten pure white though a rare handful among their race can sometimes have eyes similar to the Dark Elves. From living primarily underground and in caverns, their skin has a tone ranging from purple, gray, and also black. The cave dwellers tend to live extremely long lives, in fact, they are the longest lived of all the races, their lifespans can reach even six hundred.
While the Night Elves are not the only race of mortals or even Elves who take to worshiping the chaotic Kubar they are by far the most militant and devout to their Gods. While they worship the entire pantheon of Kubari Gods they are known to hold Apep the Lord of Night, Namir the Lady of Decay, and Saemel the Lord of Punishment in particularly high esteem among their kin. Kubari worship is the dominant religion of Dusk'rah and there are few residents of the Province who worship the Aerari, they are treated with great suspicion and can easily become the subject of persecution and hostility from the Night Elves. The Night Elves themselves came to worship the dark Kubari simply because in a rigid Ancient Elven society with harsh rules and requirement to lead lives in pursuit of success, the Kubari grant wishes and the like through far more direct means than their Aerari counterparts which led them to great success in politics and financial gain. However, the clan was quickly found out by an Elven priest who discovered they had built great shrines to the Kubari underground. The terrible shrines were destroyed and the clan of Kubari worshipers were planned to be beheaded as Kubari worship is not tolerated on Svaelyn Isles. They managed to escape and fled to the Northeastern province of Dusk'rah which was uninhabited and open for the taking.
On the battlefield Night Elves are noted for their balanced integration of sword, bow, and magic. Their primary forms of magic are the summoning and necromancy schools. This is another reason they were banished from the Isles considering necromancy is also punished at the headman's axe. When they're primarily physical combatants they are dual wielding blades and daggers, punishing their foes with dual savagery accompanied with a speed and power that would shock even the resilient Light Elves in battle. When using magic they typically are only outfitted in long black robes with magical enchantments. And their armor is called Night Armor which is simply a variation of traditional Ancient Armor that was worn by the Ancient Elves with a black coloring and purple tint. The only races they have ever been allied with were the Snow Elves when they were forced to unite against the invading humans to save themselves from death and they have, since exile, been aligned with the Dark Elves due to their similar nature, bordering homelands, and like minded culture.
Needless to say the Night Elves are vastly unpopular with the other mortal races and I think they rather like it that way. They are fiercely independent and hold no loyalties to anyone but themselves. The Night Elves have been operating in darkness for many Eras and their impact on Eastern Sol is undeniable. One of the most notorious of Elven kind, the Night Elves of Dusk'rah surely have made their mark for better or for worse and Sol will not soon forget them.
