i finished "portal 2" a few days ago and i love it! outstanding story, gameplay, music, art design, animations, humor, twists... did i mention the humor already? this one is called "home".
[SPOILER] after glados released chell at the end of the game, a simple thought struck me: what if it's not the real "outside world", but rather just another room inside the laboratories... that's why glados had that evil laugh... naah, scratch that! chell loves caro... i mean glados, it's family for her. that's why she visit the lab's from time to time. good old times. how could chell be happy without testing?! you monster!

yeah true. well the ending is kinda open for interpretation i think.
maybe its just another big lie and another chamber inside the big
aperture complex (i think i've seen some concept art of the game,
where there actually has been rooms like the big field at the end
of the game).
also, if i remember correctly, there has been a-lot of containers at
the beginning, so maybe there are a lot more test-persons for
GlaDOS to pick from, meaning she's not alone down there.

Oh my god. I thought Portal 3 was gonna be GlaDOS like "Surprise. You're still here. FOREVER." And Chell would be like "Damn it, GlaDOS." (Only thinking it of course.) But anyway, I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who imagined this.

This is gorgeous?? I love the defined lines and her muscles and tendons heck yeah. This is seriously my favorite interpretation of Chell - you totally captured her likeness, especially in her face, and ugh I just love this. *rubs face all over it*

Basically, in greek mythology they used to believe that when you died you'd be in a field of wheat with the sun, hence the ending of Portal 2. The portrait looked like a greek woman (Still Chell of course) to me xX

The timeline doesn't work for Caroline to be Chell's mother (unless Chell was adopted). Caroline was in her 20s when Aperture was founded in the mid 1950s. When she was uploaded into GLaDOS, it would have been the early 1990s and she would have been too old to already have had a child of Chell's age.
I get around this by thinking that Caroline was either Chell's grandmother and fostered Chell after her parents' deaths or that she was her adoptive mother, she and Cave having adopted because they were too old to have a child of their own. 'Cara Mia' works just as well for a grandmother as it does a mother. The grandparent and adoptive child theories both also explain why Chell doesn't look much like Caroline or Cave.

thats true! there's so much storytelling only by audio and mapping. i really liked it that way, they achieved an even more believable background then most developers are able to create with fully animated flashbacks or video renderings.

Fantastic. I see a kind of tiredness in her face, as though she's remembering everything she's been through up until this moment, and then a satisfaction as she realizes she's free. But also sadness as she departs from everything she's ever known...
