Ya know, I never noticed. XD

But considering the 2nd movie makes him out to be from many years ago (and thus possibly a hand-me-down from Andy's dad to Andy), the gun probably got lost somewhere or something.

P.S. Please note that Andy's dad IS NEVER SEEN OR MENTIONED. Though, in 3rd movie, Mr. Potato Head says "He's been Andy's favorite since kindergarten." Instead of me explaining it, just go here [link] and click CTRL+F and paste that quote I just typed. You'll find the trope. Heck, read the entire page, it's BRILLIANT.

Read the page, and that IS brilliant. I hardly thought of that. All I knew was that Toy Story 3 came out at around the same time many of the (early) 90s children were going to college. And the 90s children were the biggest fans of the movie. It's even more brilliant when you realize they most likely matured the third movie on purpose just to appeal to us. My youngest brother was upset during the incinerator scene, but the feelings struck deeper when it came to us.

And that's why the long wait was worth it. We had to be mature enough to appreciate it more.

TOTALLY. My sister was already nearing her teenage years/hit her teenage years when TS1 came out, but even she felt so much deep emotion for the third movie, especially during the incinerator scene. I was staring too intensely in horror to cry during that scene. I was soo upset that Bo didn't make it through the years! My boyfriend actually said he wouldn't take his little sister to see it since she absolutely loves Bo. I can't wait 'til they release a DVD/Blu-Ray combo pack of all three movies. We may have the first two on VHS (omg, those are so DEAD now DX), but I want to own that last one!

Lol, his finger's the substitute for it xD.

Though a Deviant said that it may have been because it got lost. Also said that Woody was originally Andy's dad's, so... I dunno. Only Pixar knows.

I think you mean 4KIDS. Disney has had their moments with guns.

Dr-J33 In reply to kokorotoyume [2010-12-24 02:12:56 +0000 UTC]

well, disney doesnt use guns too much, 4kids doesent even use the word gun those pansies.

kokorotoyume In reply to Dr-J33 [2010-12-24 05:41:02 +0000 UTC]

And when Disney does, they do tend to make them look menacing, and at least they have the guts to kill off characters and even show them dead on-screen.

Personally, I think the ironic thing about 4KIDS is even though they're trying to protect kids from violence, they only make it worse. I believe the older a child is when they are exposed to said-violence, the more traumatized they get. Younger kids don't get as traumatized unless it's way over the top, otherwise Disney wouldn't have all those death scenes.

...wait a second... those death scenes have always haunted us... is that trauma o_o;?

kokorotoyume In reply to Artsynoodles [2010-08-02 04:02:28 +0000 UTC]

Some. For example, I recently found out that although movies with nudity aren't allowed in the house, Mom wouldn't care if the actors swore like sailors. Same with violence (unless it's way too out of hand or too senseless, then it's a no-no).

For me personally, I hate violence, and I won't watch it if it's too gory. Like the last R-rated movie I watched was The Patriot, and after the British soldier got an axe through his head, I went to bed grossed out. (Ironically, I used to watch Alien when I was young.)

Okay, Mega Shark vs. Giant Octopus may have been R, but it's a lame excuse for a move, so I won't exactly count that.
