In case you don't plan to read long descriptions or whatever... None of this would have existed without her, she's the real genius behind this idea, and she even wrote the character descriptions and story, so if you like this enough to comment, i'd appreciate it if you'd also give some acknowledgement to the one who really deserves it. These are human babylons my friend and i came up with in mid-2016 and worked on since then. Jet's design is mine, Wave and Storm are hers. A chunk of the pictures on this doodlepage were her ideas too. Translating the hoverboard thing into a surfboard thing and portraying their human selves as surfers in general was all her idea. And it is PERFECT!!!!!

Ok ok ok -- so there i am, down in my gijinka making dungeon workshop, and basically I had a treacherous problem: I couldnt make a good accurate Jet or Wave or Storm gijinka. They always ended up looking wacko, and in wave's case, she kept looking a lot like not-herself... they were pretty tricky because their cute beaky faces are hard to turn into human mugs lol.
I don't think they're bad or anything, but all the Babylon gijinkas I've seen always look the same. They're kinda just like... punk biker skater people or something. Wave always looks like a hippie greaser and has these long pigtails/braids even though... an intelligent, cool, self-respecting 18 year old probably would not have those lol. (p.s.: don't trust an adult with pigtails) Anyway like... that's convention!! I'm ALLERGIC to this, etc!! So I tried to be "different" by making them technicolor like genies before, and adding little genie decorations or pointy ears based on shahra and erazor djinn, but that... didnt look right lol. despite wanting to i couldn't really break out of the thought-mold of like... "hippie punk biker skater" especially in wave's case. none of them really looked like... THEM lol. and i felt LAME

So then here comes my friend with some radical explosion of an idea that BLOWS MY MIND! SURFERS!!! I've never seen gijinkas of them as surfers before, have you ever seen gijinkas of them as surfers before??? NO you haven't!! But NOW you have!! And your mind is BLOWN!! How's it feel??? Nice and drafty, right? ISN'T IT GREAT??

It's easy to get stuck in like... "THIS GIJINKA HAS TO LOOK EEXACTLYYY LIKE THE MOBIAN OR ELSE THE BIRD GETS IT"-type of mindset, and it's also easy to make the gijinka look NOTHING LIKE the mobian, and i was getting lost somewhere between these two mindsets i guess lol. But it doesn't HAVE to be like that at all. It's more important in my opinion that the "vibe" of the character comes through. So I was really taken with this surfer idea because i think it accomplishes that PERFECTLY lol;; It's simple and unique, plus they still LOOK like themselves while their original personalities still shine through as well. PLUS, when you go back, you start to realize after the fact that they're SURFERS IN CANON, TOO. And the evidence is as follows:

-Jet's on that one official sonic channel background...

-the opening to Sonic Riders has them surfing on a rainbow tsunami... around the 0:27 mark

-On her sonic channel profile art, Wave is making the hang loose sign (aka the shaka sign) with her thumb and pinky, a gesture that is highly associated with Hawaiian and surfer culture

-all of their names have to do with water just as much as air (Wave is obvious, Storm is obvious, Jet can refer to “jetski” and as I said elsewhere, a “jet” is a stream of air OR water)

-Jet can still retain his title of “Legendary Wind Master” because people almost appear to be flying when they're surfing, and waves are actually created from wind

-Jet wields Bashosen in the games, which are banana palm leaf fans... and banana palms are a tropical plant found on Hawaii

so once this pattern was identified, there was no going back >B-(
long story short, i think they are the most perfect babylon gijinkas and im really proud of them, and I hope you agree, but its ok if you disagree, i mean, some people just enjoy being incorrect for some weird reason :^)

So here is the story with them in the gijinka universe, written by my friend:
Wave works at a small surf shack along the beach. It's incredibly boring and she finds tourists constantly pestering her with questions to be annoying, although she tries her best to keep said annoyance to herself. She can't ever wait for her shift to be over so she can join the other two out in the water.
Still excellent with computers and technology, and in addition also takes care of damaged surfboards and optimizes them to be better than before. Likes to think of her boards as the best ever.
Wave's bandana is intentionally styled slightly differently than how it is on her mobian self – it's a bit more “summery” on gijinka. Under her bandana, she has a cowlick that looks like her mobian tail. She wears a swimsuit and a towel tied around her waist. She has purple flame tattoos.

Jet is like Wave's cousin who comes to Hawaii to visit every summer and yet upon arriving on Hawaiian soil he instantly switches into 200% Tourist mode. However he may not actually know how tourists behave. He likes to race in the water and wants to race his FREAKIN' LIFE-LONG BLOOD RIVAL, Sonic, but as we all know.... Sonic is a COWARD!!! and a hydrophobe, but mainly a COWARD!!!
Loves being the best surfer on the beach and doesn't take kindly to people threatening his title of “The Big Kahuna”
His bangs are supposed to be flame-shaped, although they only look like that on a few pics here lol ;;
He's proud of his hair and hates having his ponytail yanked or flipped over his head into the front of his face. Doing either will typically result in having sand kicked into your eyes or being punted in the shin if there's no sand handy.
He probably keeps goggles or sunglasses around somewhere to wear at times, they just aren't pictured here lol
He wears green and dark green swimming trunks and has dark green flame tattoos.

Storm is a native. In the games, he's the one who talks about the ancestors and is the most knowledgeable of them and is more familiar of their ways than Extreme Gear. Interestingly enough, there happens to even be a couple species of albatross that are native to Hawaii.
He looks forward to Jet's visits. He and Wave bicker a lot because she is all about tech and Storm doesn't know about that, being Tropical Amish or something. He prefers the simple life and all the nice things living on the island has to offer. He can be rather sweet, and when he's stressed out he stutters so Wave wins every argument and he finds that annoying.
Often times enjoys wearing a cute lei around his neck.
He wears yellow and black swimming trunks and has dark gray/black flame tattoos.

As a group, they enjoy legends of Hawaiian gods and old fables of pirates out on the sea. When they're not out surfing and racing, they go exploring and search for buried treasure and hidden goods all over the islands and beaches. They come across as “bullies of the beach” a bit, but they're not actually all that bad – Jet is fond of some friendly competition here and there and fairness, Wave is smart and offers good advice, and Storm is loyal and a total bro. If anyone loses something on the island, they may help you find it..... if you pay them, bahahahaha.

If this was a game or cartoon or something, the plot would probably be something like: Eggman has the emeralds and whoever wins a surfing contest/"water-related race" gets them, and Sonic, being terrified of water, has to overcome his fear to help his team of Knuckles and Tails beat the Rogues and get the emeralds.
And if you wanted to throw in a "last story" thing, maybe the emeralds lift a sea kingdom out of the water or something, or awaken a water god that needs to be surfed into submission, complete with mandatory badass final boss music >B-(
