Something about this picture just makes me happy ^^*

Koi fish are so personal, and they add a very nice sense of depth to the picture, along with the very nice shade of blue you have used ^^*

Thank you! It's one of my few 'blue' pieces... I'm starting to think I have a better eye for blue than other colors.

Blue is a very expressive color. No matter which color one use in combination with it, the outcome is nice. ^^*

I think that you have done a great job with the blue, to make the color flow in expressive ways. If you feel that you want to explore the color more, you should, as the outcome is bound to be amazing ^^*

I've always had problems with blue. Every painting that starts out blue (except for Koi) ends up golden orange or yellow. I'll have to keep myself focused.

Based upon that, I can say that you did a -very- good job with this particular picture ^^* Looking at it, one cannot tell

Do you use Adobe Photoshop? The 'sharpen' filter is very good. I was surprised how well it sharpens images. If you don't have photoshop you can send me the file, I'll be happy to sharpen it for you.

you are toooo kind
Usually I learn every software programm pretty fast
But all the tutorials I get are in english - and to be honest - I didnt really try hard enough - just being lazy and like my "dirty fingers with the pastel" - hmm, but seeing all those great art done digital - I may be tempted ...

Heehee, I used to love pastels... until I turned 10 and my mom said I would be reponsible for cleaning up my own mess.

Rita-Ria In reply to Klyph [2006-06-14 07:22:41 +0000 UTC]

Have you ever used oils? I think it must be wonderful to paint with oils - but then I think, no matter which MEDIUM I use - it is the art I do - not the medium what makes it.... (make that sense in english?)

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Klyph In reply to Rita-Ria [2006-06-15 06:29:36 +0000 UTC]

No, unfortunately, oils were too expensive (and messy) for me!
I have used acrylic and water paint... but I ended up loving digital ... no mess, no waiting to dry.
Plus with digital, you can mess up and fix almost instantly!

Before I had a tablet, all I wanted was a Wacom, but could never afford them. When I was 16, I ended up buying a 'Genius' - a Taiwanese brand, I think, that had a 6 x 4 tablet for only $40. It was a modest investment and helped me decide whether or not I wanted to save for a Wacom.

4 years later, I got myself a wacom. It took me a very long time to save up.

Klyph In reply to Ygradsil [2006-05-12 20:07:57 +0000 UTC]

Genius also make good tablets. I know Wacom is the primary king of tablets, but when I was a student, I bought myself a $40 Genius tablet... it was only about 6 x 4 inches and it worked just fine for me until I was able to afford a Wacom. It was a great investment at the time and it helped me decide if a tablet was necessary at all.
