Ansel was a genius. I only wish to create things like he did.

Nice picture. Great contrast -- love the dark, dark blacks.

why thank you very kindly,...well it isn't a matetr of who you are to give an advanced critique, I just happen to welcome anything anyone suggests for improvement! Honestly, it helps me out in my work!

Anything I could say would only be subjective anyway... we all see things differently..hey we don't all want to be taking the same photographs huh?

Actually, he did much of his work at Yosemite in California, also.

Yes he sure did, and his NM work is a lot less known unfortunently.....his images that she shot while in NM though have always influenced my work, along with his shots from Wyoming

CorazondeDios In reply to kkart [2007-06-24 11:58:51 +0000 UTC]

his New Mexico work is what I am the most familiar with, since I've lived in New Mexico. I have his photograph of Taos pueblo. I really love his work and want to master the art of landscape photography in black and white. I plan to take a college class in the fall and learn to develop black and white photography, as well as master different techniques of film photography.

Should be really fun.

Ya that is my background, B&W film ....it's where I started all this at . It is certainly different than digital, I will say that!

I've always loved Adams work, I have a few books of his.
and this is a wonderful tribute, it's easy to miss all the little details in color. B&W forces your mind to actually see what's there, not just the colors.

kkart In reply to softcell72 [2007-06-04 12:24:23 +0000 UTC]

Thank you very much and yes I agree in full, it really takes a good shot to make a B&W swing it, and often, oddly, B&W doesn't get the attention it deserves

My first impression was that it was Ansel inspired!
Absolutely incredible shot mate. I know you're looking for advanced critique, but to be perfectly honest, I can't find fault with it. The framing is spot on, and your leading lines focus the eye properly. Not only that, but your B&W conversion adds so much depth.
Congrats!
