I headcanon Afua as gay MLM. Raised in the Pride Lands by an adoptive mother, Afua never knew his biological parents, as they were killed and he was abandoned as a cub. However, Afua loves his adoptive mother and calls her ‘mom’ (I still need to draw and figure out a name for her, but she will be a random lioness from the pride).

He was rescued as a cub and taken under this lioness's wing. She gave him the name ‘Afua’, which means ‘mercy, protection’ in Swahili.

As an adolescent, he was in a brief relationship with Kopa, having grown up together as cubs. Further down the line, Kopa would marry Vitani, and later, Afua would meet Jamal, who returned to the Pride Lands after a long absence. They would eventually hit it off, become a couple, become husbands, and eventually raise their own family.

He is a shy, timid boy who is sometimes oversensitive and can be overwhelmed easily. However, he’s not afraid to express his feelings. He's honest, trustworthy, and loves to show affection to those he loves. He is still good friends with Kopa, and under his reign, he becomes a royal adviser.
