Description
A bizzare and deadly Behemoth known to lurk on the Far Reaches of the Shattered Isles. Not much is known about it, but it's able to manipulate a unique Dark Aether and create illusions.The Shrowd and Dauntless belong to Phoenix Labs.

I mean, I personally didn't design this beast; but from the gameplay footage I've seen of Dauntless, I would say that it does take a few notes from both Nargagcuga and Gore Magala. When enraged it also has a trail effect coming from it's eyes.

Thanks! At first I relied on the Dauntless Wiki to provide references, but there's currently no pictures for a majority of the behemoths so I assumed there wasn't any footage of them yet. To my delight though, there was tons of gameplay footage on Youtube, and I finally got a good look at the Shrowd. Seems to me that it's considered the "big bad" of Dauntless, and he certainly looks the part.

Would be interesting to see how the skeleton and musculature would cope with such a physique that allows for both quadrupedal gait as well as flight. But then again, it is a fantasy game and stuff like that is not that important... I just tend to think about it a lot.

Very true, the way I view it's overall physique is something like a stretched out bear or wolverine or something along those lines. Haven't gotten to play the game and encounter it myself, so I'm going off of nothing but gameplay footage. The Wing feathers aren't particularly organized like those of a bird or other theropod; there's no clear Primaries or Secondaries, but like you said, it's a fantasy game. Still, it's fun to speculate!

In the game, do these wing- fingers allow for powered flight or is it more of a jump-assist with subsequent gliding?

I haven't seen it use any kind of powered flight, but plenty of jump assistance and gliding.
