Description My next dragon;  still don't have a name yet for any of them, but I'm workin' on it!  I picture this guy as a large, facultative biped that breathes a yellowish-green acidic breath.

UPDATE:  A name for this guy!  Zischentod (Sinapidraco furcatus).

The name's grammar is not correct in German but the concept is cool

Oh it's not?  I'm not very good with any language that isn't english.

Is there a more grammatically correct way to say that?

ZaubererbruderASP In reply to King-Edmarka [2016-09-14 07:26:49 +0000 UTC]

Well, "Zischender Tod" would make the most sense. That means "hissing death".

I guess that's what you wanted to say, isn't it?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

King-Edmarka In reply to ZaubererbruderASP [2016-09-14 15:12:35 +0000 UTC]

Oh no, I meant for "fizzling death" in reference to the acidic mist it sprays from it's mouth.

ZaubererbruderASP In reply to King-Edmarka [2016-09-15 08:30:00 +0000 UTC]

I have to admit I never heard the English word "fizzling". As far as I understand, it's the sound that soda or lemonade makes when you slowly open the bottle (just googled it, I guess I'm interpreting your intention wrongly).

If my interpretation is correct, zischen would be okay, but it's not really as good as a word for this as fizzling. I think there isn't really a German word for this.

Maybe I'll go back to the drawing board and think of some alternative names.  Something a little more understandable.

It might seem kinda strange, but GOD do I love this pose. Something about it. The design of the dragon is pretty cool, but its the pose that gets me

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

King-Edmarka In reply to BaryMiner [2016-09-11 15:08:20 +0000 UTC]

No, it's understandable!  I love a good pose myself.  It's often just as important as the subject.  Perhaps it has to do with the wings?

And thanks!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

BaryMiner In reply to King-Edmarka [2016-09-11 15:11:05 +0000 UTC]

Its the wings and the s-curve neck that get me, along with the hunchback. It looks very alive. The hands too, though I didn't see them at first and thought this was a wyvern

Thanks!  Actually, the whole concept of "wing-walking" that I incorporated into this guy is partially inspired by Gogmazios from MH.

May I suggest something like 'Mitsustoni troglodytes'?

 Roughly speaking, "cave-dwelling goblin shark".

King-Edmarka In reply to GreekRandomness [2016-09-10 23:26:28 +0000 UTC]

It's a good idea for sure, but I've already got a good idea of what I'm gonna call this guy.

GreekRandomness In reply to King-Edmarka [2016-09-10 23:48:51 +0000 UTC]

What is the translation of the nomenclature?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

King-Edmarka In reply to GreekRandomness [2016-09-10 23:53:27 +0000 UTC]

Sinapidraco furcatus literally means "Forked Mustard Dragon", in reference to both the horns and the mustard color of it's skin.  It's common name; Zischentod, means "Fizzling Death" in German, referring to the Acid Mist the dragon breathes.

GreekRandomness In reply to King-Edmarka [2016-10-23 16:01:25 +0000 UTC]

I'm working on a dragon project similar to Hytrioskjan's, and I have a dragon with large forked crests above the eyes with the ability to spit poison with similar effect to Mustard Gas, would you mind if I used this nomenclature for it?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

King-Edmarka In reply to GreekRandomness [2016-10-23 19:40:36 +0000 UTC]

Er, I'd rather you didn't.  It's a name that I would like to keep toward my dragon.
