literally translated to : fear hare. The dutch word for someone who is scared really easily, or simply translated to coward. Also a nickname for Mez naturally.

Kai is looking scared for the sake of Annette's safety here btw :"D Not because she is scared of her pony. Now I have experienced an extremlyyyyy fearful horse on show terrain this summer ( lucky me ) ...and I can tell you. It's the most scariest fucking thing in the world. So..even if Kai was scared there XD...I ..understand

Always the same story, the red stallion announced himself on the field where the other riders had already gathered for a bit of scouting of the ring. Thank god he didn't have to go into the sunken arena because this already seemed to be a bit much for the scared zlesdin. Snorts were loud and fast, cutting the silence everyone was enjoying. Neighs were hard and panicked, calling for his friend; Ghost. His eyes were white, and looking around.

Lots of people, tall buildings, shadows, many horses. Moving objects and wind. Cold fresh air, a strange terrain. Something that would make the regular horse pretty nervous yep, but for Mezuzah this was simply a nightmare. Small shows were usually the only thing he entered in, only Zdarloch and Ermelo had been the other larger location he had grown used to besides Stridsholt. And even there he was always a nervous wreck, but managable.

" How has he been ? " Annette asked as they made their way down to the large area with the two rings, one for warm-up and one for the actaul test. Mez who was already way too hot for his own good made some few skips down the hill that let them down. Kaira of course managed to sit that with ease, but she was thankful Annette was holding on to him for now.
" Bad, he has hardly eaten anything. Walking around in his stable like crazy. Sweating. I don't get how he is not exhausted yet. " Kaira answered her calmly. Making him halt for a moment so that Annette could let him go in peace.

" Maybe this will help him a little, walk him around for a bit. Trot and canter if you feel like that will help. " Annette stated, sending Kaira on her way. Nero followed shortly after with Sjoerd to make a quick round as well, and she gently asked Mezuzah to follow. Letting him look around but not too much. The tension she felt through his entire body was unlike anything she had felt so far from him. Ermelo had been like this as well, but..somehow it felt worse. Much much worse. He grew more anxious, his tail that was usually up high and proud was now nowhere and between his legs. His head kept facing toward Annette if she didn't correct him. He didn't dare to venture alone. the view into the wide open, the mountains in the distance. It scared him as well. Just like the horse head on the white dressage fence. The judges little house.

" Easy.. " Kaira spoke to him calmly, it was of no use and she knew it of course. She could feel his walk changing into something that resembled a robot almost, nervous stressed steps. They turned into hops at one point. The strides becoming bigger and bigger. On his spot he started rearing quick and low, followed by kicks. his hindleg smacking the ground in the mare fashion. Annette looked rather amused by it. " C'mon get him going." She joked, Kaira's face was anything but smiling however. She dealt with lots of horses. And she has ridden Mezuzah through a lot of "scary" situations. But This time she could feel his normal nervous and scared self was telling her he didn't want to. But she tried, gently asking him to go forward. And he did, shaking his head as he took a sprint towards Annette.

" LEE RIDE FOR GOD'S SAKE " She gasped as she watched the horse bolt towards her, Kaira was trying every trick in the book. But the shaking of this stallion that had grown rather strong the past year and a half combined with pure blind panick on his part made it hard. She managed to slow him by using her legs, clinging them thightly to brake him without using too much rein.
" I am TRYING oke ?? " She hissed back at Annette, the canter had become calmer and she circled him. Just to trigger another huge buck from him and it was back to square one from there. He bolted already closer to Annette now. Kaira hit the brake again, which now caused the most insane JUMP he had done for a while. He leaped up, trying to escape the pressure and jumped.
"KA-" Was all that was left of a scream that ended before Annette could even finish it. Mez took Annette down with him when he landed, blinded by panic and the need to stick to her had now caused a dramatic scene. Annette was down on the ground, Mez luckily jumped right up over her again once he felt her at his legs.

With a leap from the saddle Kaira dismounted right away, sweeping one rein over his head to lead him to Annette with some more control.
" Are you oke ??" She asked, worried. Annette groaned for a moment before sitting up. " Just... a hard fall. He didn't step on me.. Thank god. "
Kaira helped her up, checking her over one last time and looking terribly sorry.
" Get on back up.. " Annette said while brushing off the sand.
" No.. He is done for today. " Kaira shook her head subtly as she brushed her fingers over the stallions head. " Please take him back to the stables..Switch him with Nero, place him next to Ghost. " The reins were handed over. Annette simply looked in disbelieve. " You should get back and take back control Kaira, what about tomorrow ? "
" He has suffered enough, the least I can do is give him some rest before I ask too much of him again tomorrow.. " Kaira's eyes turned sad, giving the stallion one last pat before turning to go to Nero instead.

She hated what she had come to with him, she always claimed: the most important part is to make the horse as comfortable and happy as possible. But now ? What had she turned into ? Asking Mezuzah to do all of this for her simply because she wanted the spot on the team and ride the nationals in Ermelo. She knew better than that.. She knew this didn't make him happy. She knew he wasn't made for this. He showed her many times, and today he made a very clear statement. He had asked her not to for many times and she felt awful for ignoring his will for so long.

"One last time, I promise. " She whispered to herself, looking back to watch him being escorted out. She greeted Sjoerd quickly as she took off her helmet and swapped placed in the saddle. Nero, of course. Wasn't even impressed. But rather seemed to like it here. Now that's what Mez was supposed to be as well, and she was simply the worst owner to ignore that.
