It is not a feature I added, but a basic functionality of Rainmeter itself, and so cannot be disabled.

The solution is to use other crosshair overlay software, like Custom Desktop Logo . You can load the eclipse reticle from this skin there. (That is the only reticle that is an image file.) But you will have to manually toggle the reticle every time you open/close the game.

I can't see the reticle

Make sure the executable name is correct and that the game is borderless fullscreen.

You can also force the reticle to display regardless of process detection.Β Right-click Rainmeter's system tray icon > Quickscope Dot > Custom skin actions > Show

Would be nice if the reticle would be removed when you hold right click.

It would be possible with an AutoIt script that hooks mouse right click and then sends bangs to Rainmeter through the command line via NirCmd Β (so as not to show a command prompt window). It would only need to send the same !Show/!Hide bangs already used by the process detection measure.

However, I'm not going to do this, since intercepting user input would put this skin in the grey area of potential cheat software. I wrote this as simple and transparent as possible so that even a non-programmer can inspect the code and see that it's not doing anything fishy. That's why the process detection set up requires editing the skin directly instead of using some interface, so that the user can see exactly where and how the process name is used. An AutoIt script would add complexity that would hinder transparency, and for AutoIt scripts to run without AutoIt installed, they have to be compiled into executables, which are often falsely flagged by anti-viruses.

But if you want to do this yourself, I have given you all the hints you need.Β

The cross hair is not even in the center of my screen.. Any way to fix this? I'm using a 800x600 resolution window mode.

Never mind, I got it to the center by enabling dragging in the edits. <3

Ookay...Nvm again.. How do I keep it in place? Like when I move the game window but the crosshair does not move with it.

Best to use borderless fullscreen, so that the center of the screen is the center of the game window. The reticle doesn't know about the game or the size and position of the window.

You may have been playing the game at a non-native resolution before going windowed, which would have messed with Rainmeter's resolution detection. Right-click Rainmeter's system tray icon > Refresh all to redetect.

Fucking cheaters will do anything to pretend to be good except for trying to get good themselves.

I agree that this might be cheating if you're using it for a multiplayer game, because I would also consider physically putting a dot on your monitor cheating in that case. But for singleplayer games I don't understand your anger. I use a dot sticker sometimes in singleplayer when I play on Hell on Earth mode in Killing Floor... it's a brutally hard game and I'm really not good enough to play on that difficulty without a little help. As long as I'm just using it for me, and I'm not pretending to be good, what's the harm? It lets me play and enjoy a game mode that would otherwise be frustrating and tedious for me. So this skin is perfect. I don't need to make smudges on my monitor taking the sticker off and back on anymore.

Is this cheating though? People put tape on their screen anyway.

Yes. It is cheating. Its an unfair advantage you have over others who can't do it. Thats the definition of cheating. Trying to rationalize it doesn't make it not cheating.

Is there any way to get this working on Warframe?
I changed the "Processname=" from the black ops one to "Warframe.exe"...
The reticle doesn't show up though.

killall-q In reply to ImGerik [2016-01-18 16:45:12 +0000 UTC]

Make sure the executable name is correct and that the game is windowed or borderless fullscreen. You might be running the 64 bit version, Warframe.x64.exe. It doesn't have to match the game itself, just anything that is running at the same time the game is, and it's not case sensitive.

You can also force the reticle to display regardless of process detection.Β Right-click Rainmeter's system tray icon > Quickscope Dot > Custom skin actions > Show

I've tried both .exe files for Warframe and made sure it was running in borderless fullscreen... Sadly, still not working.
Running another program while Warframe is running makes sense, I didn't think of that.

Ah, for some reason I missed those "show" and "hide". Silly me.
Very nice that there is a manual option.

Thanks man! I'll definitely be using these reticles.

this has been flawless otherwise, and there's probably an easy and obvious fix to this, but I have a problem where in cod bo3 when i right click (aim) while holding shift (sprint) the menu to edit the skin shows up and i have to left click (shoot) to be able to look around again.

conditions: in match, a skin where the center is filled (the dots), shift + r click must be hit

notes: out of match i have to move the in game cursor to the center and press shift + r click to activate the settings menu, so it can be assumed that the game locks the cursor to the center of the screen when in-match

i can always use the hollow skins, but thanks for any supportΒ

In Rainmeter, holding Shift or Ctrl acts as a safety to bypass mouse actions, clickthrough, and other settings that hinder mouse interaction. There's nothing I can do to disable this functionality. If you really want to use the dot or ballistic reticles with a mouse, you can move it so it's not directly under the cursor.

FYI, in BO3, you can just press sprint once and you'll keep sprinting while holding forward.
