Description Model by Toshikazu Kawasaki. Found in "Origami Dream World - Flowers and Animals".

This is a delightful model. I am trying to find a cool way to fold a frog using box pleating out of a dollar bill (or canadian tire money...whatever), and this model seems to hold the key. At any rate, it's a gorgeious and simple model. Enjoy it!

I wholeheartedly agree! The simple forms are very beautiful in their own right when done well and should not be considered as lesser than the super complex ones. This is a fun model to learn; I wish you luck!

Cool! I'm glad to see you got it done! In terms of it being clean or not, that's just practice. As you do more folds you start to learn how to round out certain areas (like the nose) and which areas should be pinched (like the joining of the legs). Box folding is not easy, but you got it done. Congrats!

thanks for the comment and the fav.
I would like to know what kind of paper did u use for folding ur model?

This one is doubletissue that I had made myself, though honestly I do not remember ever making it. Had to pull it out and check again and it has the pencil marks I used to square it off, so I must have.

It's really not that hard and I would encourage it if you're serious at all about the hobby. You can get some great colours and exactly the feel you want in the paper. It's basically just two sheets of tissue paper with watered down white glue applied to it with a paint brush (I mean, I used methylcellulose, but watered down white glue may work too). There's plenty of vids on youtube for it.

Thank you for your suggestions. I think I will try it in near future
unfortunately internet speed is miserable in my country and moreover the youtube is filtered it's not that I can't watch the vids, using proxy would solve it in someways. but using a proxy makes the speed even worse. I hope oneday I learn it and make use of the technique

I've been saying for years that everyone should be able to fold one or two cute models from memory. Noone listens to me. So I learn more of them to compensate.

love this model! It's looks so striking, which I think has to do with the simplicity of it. Anyway, I love it!

Kessukoofah In reply to karatechick13 [2011-08-14 05:01:54 +0000 UTC]

Why thank you. I would agree about the simplicity of the model making it striking! I have posted elsewhere about my fondness for the abstract and impressionist over the detailed, and I think this is a perfect example of that. Didn't hurt that the picture of it didn't come out half bad either.

lol, yes the terrific photo doesn't harm it either! But I think your folding has a lot to do with it. Also, do you know anywhere online that I can get the folding instructions for this? I've had a look but can't seem to see it anywhere...

this is the best frog i have ever seen, okay i havent seen many but so much better than my partners attempted at a leaping frog

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Kessukoofah In reply to claremanson [2011-08-03 16:06:18 +0000 UTC]

It is a darn good looing frog. I haven't figured out how to make it leap yet (that's a differant model), but it looks like it's going to, and that's what really matters in a photo.

I'm glad you like it!

(By the way, I have now printed out all your recipes and taped them to the inside of my recipe book. I can't wait to try them! Especially the shortbread cookies. I'm a sucker for a good shortbread cookie!)

I' Impressed, not only with your origami skills, but with go good you have become in photograph of small objects.

Kessukoofah In reply to CarlosTorreblanca [2011-07-28 17:38:32 +0000 UTC]

Why thank you. I've often said that if you have to do something many, many times, then it would take active effort to not get at least slightly better at it. Or, as I call it, The Super Mario World effect.

That was in refferance to the photography, but as to the origami, that is an active effort on my part ot get better. Trying more intricate models, and trying to perfect the simple ones. I hope to get some training at the convention for things like wet folding and keeping lines neat and see if that will help. I would love to put wet-folded animals in my gallery.

And I'm glad you like it!
