Oh, I really love this! You have captured such a fabulous sense of atmosphere here, with the soft lighting and all of the attention to detail on the knickknacks... it creates a very cozy and relaxing scene. I'm impressed with how you rendered the light hitting the painting above the fireplace (haha, painting-inception); the texture is extremely realistic!

Just stumbled across your work (as one does on DA) and peeked at a bit of your gallery. You have amazing work - marvellous. I note this painting is 2005 - and still so good.

Ooh, a cup of tea sounds delightful! I will join you! Let us sit together in this lovely yellow room of yours and enjoy a bit of tea, shall we? I think of myself back up in Vermont, enjoying the summer breeze through the window and looking at all of the beauty around. *sigh* I miss being up north...

Thank you! And funny you should mention that. I am actually in the process of painting a landscape! haha. It is going to be finnished a little more loosely than my previous works, but thats what i'm aiming for. I want to show a range of styles. I should be done in a week or two, so please keep an eye out for it!

Very very pretty. This loosely resembles my parlour... except that mostly everything in my parlour is wine red and dark violet. I like it. Just switch the colour tint and it would look exactly like my parlour. Hahaha. Can you tell I my family is very old-fashioned? We did not even have a microwave until about two or three years ago.

Wow, really?!! Well, I guess when you eat healthy, microwaveable food isnt exactly at the top of your list.

Romadiere In reply to Keriberrygirl [2006-01-24 23:44:02 +0000 UTC]

Haha. Yes. My fahter and mother are very into eating freshly foods from market. So our microwave was really only used to heat things up... but then we do get pure cocoa sometimes and that is YUMMY! I looooove chocolate! Especially the dark my father buys.

"Keri makes a happy noise...*fwee!* "and Robin makes a noise that sounds sort of like "Whoa!".

That is simply fantastic. Old lady style or not - the detail is excellent, the lighting superb. The colors are gorgeous.
Its work like this that make me wonder why the hell i'm even here (on DA) in the first place. Damn - this is light years ahead of me...
Excellent work.

Thanks for the wonderful compliment! But you are better in different areas than I am *sigh*. You do some really nice litterary peices and you can think of things just out of your head to draw. I could never do that kinda stuff - i'm not that creative. I always have to look at already existing things to paint them. I dont have a very good imagination.

I guess it woudl be easier for you to understand why I say the things i do if you knew more about my background. I won't go into it here because I don't want to take up a lot of space.
Some other time, perhaps...

I got to thinking - It would be worth meeting you in person JUST to hear you make that happy noise...~L~

I always keep a photo reference next to my easel so i can make my work as true to life as possible.

you are such a skilled artist *shakes fist* but i have a critique for this one! (you can tell me to bugger off if you want) the ornamental thingy above the fire probably needs a bit more shadow on the far side coz it seems as if the light hitting the objects in the room is quite strong. otherwise its awesome

Keriberrygirl In reply to siany-barny [2005-12-22 15:23:51 +0000 UTC]

i would NEVER tell you to bugger off! LOL! I agree completely with your critique. I get a little careless when I paint sometimes, and I guess I never noticed it before.

This is stunning too. Question - do you work with an acrylic medium, like, an extender to keep it wet longer? It's been so long since I touched my real paints, they're drying up in a drawer. Your work inspires.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Keriberrygirl In reply to Nyrak [2005-12-21 07:39:10 +0000 UTC]

Thanks again!

No, I don't use any kind of an extener when I paint with acrylics. I actually use the "dryness" to my advantage using a special technique called dry-brushing. I'm not really comfortable using oils because they stay wet so long, I can't blend over them without smearing them everywhere! LOL!
