Description ~Spooky Goth~

This is my official Halloween deviation for 2008. For this pic I have created a "Halloween Witch Kit" in 3DSMAX, which consists of a flying broom, a lantern, a witch hat and a moon & stars 3D background prop. The kit can be used in any order or combination, where this is one of them. Here I used NearMe with her SpookyMe outfit, but it can be used with any other figure. For the kit textures I used Poser7 shader nodes to create procedural materials. NearMe ear morphs were created with Poser magnets, eye textures painted by me, and custom teeth morph was created by me.

Hope you like it and thanks for coming by!

my teacher says it's also expensive... not that I know much about what a normal price is for computer software... so I'm glad we have it at school, especially concidering all the budget cuts

It has become very expensive ($7000), but there are cheaper versions like $3000 and a student version, not sure for how much.

Hmm... I never shared the custom of Halloween, here in Spain, it didn't exist until America took it here, so, i don't feel like "dark" or something XD for me, the last day of October is the 31th, not "Halloween" XD

Happens way too often with me too. Sometimes dA makes me re-post the same message several times when it starts with "Error posting message". But then I just reload the page to see if it went before breaking. ^^

It is not dA's fault most of the times ^^U this connection is shared, so, simply, it slows down.

In a predominantly Christian country like the US, a celebration like Halloween causes a lot of controversy, but the kids have fun & candy nonetheless.

melficexd In reply to ken1171 [2008-10-10 12:01:45 +0000 UTC]

Controversy? that's the answer. then is a rebel answer of the people against its system. And candys and fun are sweet business

Halloween is as pagan as Christmas, but when it comes to commercial dates, only the "true believers" are bothered. And those are in short demand nowadays...

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

melficexd In reply to ken1171 [2008-10-10 20:12:05 +0000 UTC]

As always... I don't expect much from "commercial" dates such as those, never gave them too much credit. because you can be scary ANY day, and believe in God the same, partying about it is just as good in those days as in any other. But if you can add money into the equation... BINGO!

If you ask an American where did Halloween come from and why is it "celebrated" in the US - they don't know!! LOL
But I do know a number of church people who are against it, and forbid their kids to dress up and go trick or treat-ing.
On the other hand, the US is the largest maker of horror movies in the world, so Halloween makes sense in that context. ^^

As far as I know, Halloween only exists in the US, like Thanksgiving, which is another controversial but major American holiday. It has been a couple of years since the Navajo Nation has refused to participate on Thanksgiving celebrations because it is hard to forget what happened in the "real history" of the United States, where native Americans received everything but gratitude (if you know what I mean).

Same as muslims here in Spain, the 2nd of January, when they got kicked out of their reigns by "christians" we celebrate it, they consider it to be racist. But it is a party the same. Although, i feel more empathy towards the navajos than towards Allah's sons.

In the same way, the assassination anniversary of Martin Luther King is observed in most US states, with the exception of some of the southern states, to include here in Arizona, where it is left optional for companies to observe it or not. It is mostly ignored in Tennessee, where he was actually shot dead. King because he was black, Lincoln because of his ideals, and JFK because he was too popular for a non-Republican. So much for the land of the free... T_T

Not in the southern states, my friend. Racism was made illegal in America, but that doesn't mean people changed their minds about it. One of the most known American comedians, Eddie Murphy, did you notice ALL of his movies have at least one or more racist quote in it? And did you notice what tactic American police is using to arrest Mexicans? "Racial Profiling" was on the big newspaper headlines this week, referring to the way people are stopped based on their skin color. That's how police "guesses" who is Mexican just by looking at people's skin color. If it's too dark, stop them! Some things never change...

Murphy's Law is based on chance, and this is about people's own choices made on their own will. Big difference there.
