uhh to be honest I don't remember (>_o)... I tend start and stop work when I have time.. but I would guess somewhere around 12-14 hours. The original isn't super big... it's about 6in x 14in (estimate)

I think I've given up on the whole patience thing. Even when I'm really patient with a piece that is more detailed, I don't enjoy doing it... even if it turns out really good. I've decided that I'm only going to paint things that I have fun painting. But kudos to you for sticking with it... I admire that.

it took a long time for me to have the patience.. and now when I get bored with a spot, instead of rushing through it I get up and walk around for a bit and come back to it (recharge my brain). I naturally work very quickly, so I also have to remind myself to slow down form time to time ^_^

Those shafts of light are pretty wonky, especially on the subject, which is a shame. Nevertheless, you managed make it look like shafts of light which is quite a feat still. The foreground of rocks/roots against the water looks flat I'm afraid. I'm not sure if they're supposed to meet the edge of the water or stand out as rocks in the foreground. Perhaps a silver lining of reflected light at the edge of the rock should do the trick?
