It quite much depends on how big the hole in the ice is for how long you stay in the water, quite few actually go *under* the water. This is a very small hole and here it's only possible to take a dip. Usually one stays in the water for 5-20 seconds but if you have a bigger hole and are able to swim there are people who stay there for several minutes. After you get used to it isn't actually that cold...
