i love it, the shining starwish in the middle looks great, the darker plants around it and in the corners make it interesting and more three-dimensional

This is a really wonderful photo.. it's vibrant and alive.. the colors are just magical here. I don't know what meaning you inteded to put here but what i the feeling i got as soon as i saw this .. was that some star up in the heavens decided it was time to leave the clouds and come down to earth.. so it took it's last breath and dove under water.. and that's where it lives now.. happy as can be, but still secretly missing the feeling of the wind. hehe somewhat unrealistic interpretation i guess.. but reality is highly overrated. I definitely like what you're doing here.. i think it's really good work.

about the photo:
it's a beautifully executed shot. the vividness of each form in the water is so well defined under the liquid. i especially enjoy how some parts of the kelp (?? lol) stick out of the water giving another dimension of texture.
about the lighter portion:
i think the photo may benefit more if the lighter section created the border rather than the way you have it now. i think a lot of the details seem softly focused with this presentation. it takes away slightly from the quality which is a shame because it's one of the best water/sealife shots i've seen here at dA.
about the border:
my eyes (and sense of symmetry) are bothered ever so slightly by the larger top portion of white. it seems to unbalance the framing. perhaps if you made it the same size as the white portions at the sides it would regain the balance.
just my two cents 
all in all, a really lovely photo that makes me want to dip my feet in the water!

The picture is amazing, but I don't like the framing, with the vivid colours at the outside and the sort of bleach ones on the inside. Maybe that's because I interpreted it differently from you ? The title seems rather negative, or at least melancholic, but to me, the picture conveys a very positive meaning, something like having found the needle in the haystack.
However you interpret it, it still is one of the best pictures I have ever seen, so a +fav from me.
