Description I have been obssessed with painting using a Triple 0 brush. I am not even sure it has the 10 hairs it started out with anymore. I had hand cramps forever, but it was so much fun.

My friends parent had a real coral fan in her snazzy guest bathroom and I could not help but study it. I decided that she was a bad person for contributing to the destruction of some reef somewhere in the world. But man...I appreciated the beauty in every tiny connected branch on this fan.

Original watercolor and gouche on 150lb cold press. Handblended goldleaf and copperleaf. Measures 18 x24 in.

Now this is awesome :)

I love the utilisation of fun and beautiful textures. A real definition of elegance.

This would look lovely for screens/room dividers.

hehe...glad you think so...I don't think I will ever try to paint so much detail ever again. I can still feel the hand cramps from working on this piece. Thanks for taking a look.

Oh, wow... this is awesome... i've snorkeled a lot around the reefs off the coast of our island and this coral fan reminds me so much of it... beautiful...

Is there ever a Triple 0 brush? hehehe... wow, i only had a 0... that's like painting with a few strands of your own hair, hahaha... well done!

haha...yes, and it has something like 5 hairs, although I went through two of them by teh time I finished the fan. It worked out in the end, and I really liked the effect although I had hand cramps for weeks after finishing. I think that may be the only fan I ever paint in such detail. hehe

I am glad you appriate the work that went into this piece.

Thank you. I was also impressed with my patience which is normally short unless I am painting. Thanks for taking a look!

Actually, I sold that piece before I have the chance to finish it. It resides somewhere in Texas now. I plan on painting a series in various colours if my hand can take it. I will take some pics and send to you to see me progress when I start on them. Thanks for your comment.

"I decided that she was a bad person for contributing to the destruction of some reef somewhere in the world."

Hmm, a little hasty judgement, maybe? Oftentimes things like this are broken off (and killed) in storms and wash up on the beach where they are collected. You might have just asked them where they got it first...?

(you can thank my therapist for the above observation by me; she's been on my own case about being too judgemental of people. )

...perhaps true, but if you knew this woman...whoowee. She would take candy from a refugee if she thought they didn't have contagious germs. But I do thank your therapist, and I do work on that sometimes myself. Cheers to self reflection!

Cheers!

Sometimes I feel like a great burden was lifted from my shoulders, once I began to give others more of a chance. I have a lot more friends, and I'm a lot more at peace with my own self. It was a black thing inside me, and it's getting lighter with every new friend I make...
