Monarch Caste:

Only a few of the monarch caste are known to exist, and the exact details behind their creation are somewhat muddy, but are widely considered to be the most powerful beings in the Emerald sea and beyond. Every century or so, one of the monarchs disappears back into the ocean, never to return. When this happens, members of the lower castes flock to the ocean’s edge and -after a quick blessing- plunge into the water and strike out into it’s depths. Some return disheartened, having found nothing, while others are claimed by the waves, never to return. Exactly one month later a new monarch rises from the waves and reclaims the last one’s place, elevated from their lowly origin. They never speak of what occurred to them far from land to transform them so, and no one is exactly in the position to challenge them.

Each monarch traditionally rules over or protects a vital region of the Emerald sea, keeping the major powers that be in a tenuous balance. The newest monarch, known in her previous life as Teihuic, was once a lowly worker not four months ago, but has risen far above both the warriors she chafed to support and the city that housed them. Fortunately, she has an exceptionally benevolent nature and has no intent on exacting vengeance on those who have slighted her in the past.

Though “slighted” may be a generous term for it, as she suffered a severe thrashing at the hand of a warrior over her radical ideas of warmblood equality, leaving her left orbital broken. Though her other scars have healed through the coronation process, this deformity remained, now hidden by a molded brass plate.

No, so far her energies have been put towards much more productive avenues, namely enshrining the rights of warmbloods in the cities under her sway. As a result of this, the Glass Coast has become the safest territory in the Emerald Sea for human habitation, with several prominent warmblood men and women on it’s council.
Seen here checking up on a coastal temple-city, Teihuic spends most of her time at sea or in the depths of the hostile deepest jungle -the strain she would put on the land is simply too great to be sustainable. Still, it is good to come ashore and see the good she has managed to do here- and to recover from the battle at the dark edge of the world.

-The first introduction to the truly huge side of the Axoltzyn I felt should be coloured up a bit, as well as featuring a more wholesome, bleeding heart character in Teihuic.
