Description Oh dear how much I love Dupond&Dupont, they're been my favorites since I learnt to read. My daddy stuck Tintin-comics to me right after he noticed I was able to read (I picked that ability quite much before school) and kinda forced me to read all albums.

They're quite heavy stuff really, for someone who had just learnt to read at least. I clearly remember crying against my daddy's shoulder how it was too hard and exhausting to read something I felt was too difficult. He just laughed and said it'll be easier if I practiced enough^^

And you know what, that's exatly how it was, after all Tintin-albums it was easy to move into detective novels. I kinda skipped children's books at that time and went straight to books intented to adults haha. It seems that basically my daddy's parenting rule number one is make everybody feel miserable for awesome results.

I know these two are called Thomson and Thompson in English, but I dislike that translation so much I just can't. Though it's not nearly as hideous as *Snowy*. UGH. It's Milou, MILOU.

My favorite little detectives <3
Everytime I feel depressed I just think about something silly they said, and I'm laughing again. I think it was in album Tintin and the Picaros where they claimed having moustache since early childhood xDDD
Seriously I had just now a huge laughing spasm just thinking about that. You goofs, how did you manage to become officers?

Lovely little men, they're just the same person split in two for some reason. And they're not even related.

In my imagination they live in similar houses (possibly in a double), have perfectly identical wives (with minor detail differencies) and have some funny children running around and everytime one of them sits on their lap they have to ask which one of them had boys. Then they would continue mixing up their wives and kissing the wrong one, and since this happens on a daily basis no-one cares anymore.

I love these guys, they're so blissfully ignorant

Tintin: But detectives why did they commit the crime?
Dupont: Because they're criminals

I love your scenario of Dupond and Dupont's daily lives. I could totally see that happening to them, the fools. I love your picture of them, they look so full of themselves!

I like to think that even their wives don't always remember which one they're married to, so basically they have just one big clumsy family xD

Oh yeah, they're always so full of their own "excelence". Like how many times they're arresting Tintin for things unknown. Fools <3 Everything they do is gold.

And they say cursing is a sign of poor vocabulary, some of the words in Finnish translation had to be /invented/ to depict his awesome way of release the steam^^

First things written in Finnish came about 1500 AD, but it was mainly used for names, disconnected sentences and religius textes. Only around middle and late 1800 literature was born. So when compared to a lot of other languages, people have written stuff in Finnish only a little while^^

Haha^^ Well maybe. You know, for a long time Finnish was actually considered way too ugly to write poetry or anything beautiful. Sometimes you can see that sort of opinions still floating around, even though nowadays no-one considers it's completely impossible xD

Flying-Glove In reply to jossujb [2012-06-10 01:20:05 +0000 UTC]

Well, if listening to Finnish music is any indication, I think that Finnish is actually a very pretty language. So I've no idea why someone would think that it was "too ugly".

I'm not sure, but it might be something to do how much Finnish uses sharp consonants, often multible in a same word. There's no wishing s (like in sheep) at all, r is always loudly rolling An many cases there's double k to make things sound, I dunno, bulky, maybe. Then again, people who focus on these things often forgot how much there's vocals too, and the range of combinations there can be. But you know, I think that native speakers of any language are quick to judge their own language too ugly.
