Another artwork I found when I was in Diardi. A Maya Guard. I remember the boss asked for a powerful concept of the costume in detail, and a pure anatomy. And I didn't remember but this illustration was created in 2009!!Pencils on paper, and color in Photoshop.

Un trabajo más que encontré cuando estaba en Diardi. Un guardia Maya. Recuerdo que el jefe deseaba un poderoso concepto del vestuario con todo detalle y anatomía pura. No lo recordaba, pero ésta ilustración fué hecha en el 2009!!

Los hombres se ven fabulosos con todo marcado. En un nombre nunca se verá mal. Con las mujeres hay que tener mucho màs cuidado con eso, un marcado muy leve para que no se vean muy machotas, porque nos gustan màs con una capita extra de grasa (donde debe de ser) para apreciar sus curvas, como lo hice notar con Carrigan y algunas mìas de Ksheila. o no?

Is not exactly a hair, dear Myriam, but part of a costume. And yep! looks like a statue. 
The boss only asked for a "solid concept", you know?

In the actual stelae and panels from Palenque, it is stylized hair. The Maya had very stylised art and depicted hair in that way. I believe the old artworks that this piece was based off of was just misinterpreted into being a headdress.

Sadly, not as I'll like to. I'm working in office since 2007. Many of the artworks you see in my gallery were illustrations since 1999 to 2007. Since 2007 (and now with family) I draw every times fewer.

i realized that there are bird/parrot shape-like statues in the Mayan ruins!! does it symbolizes something?!!!

YEs, their gods were hybrids, a mix between humans and some animals, specially birds, occidental dragons or reptiles.

does it have to do anything with the eagle on the Mexican flag?

The eagle was (according to the "mexica" legend) only a "signal". The legend said: the god of the aztecs (or mexicas) said to his people to find some place with an eagle eating a snake. When they found the eagle in the centre of a lake, they started here to construct a town. Today, this early town is Mexico city.
