The valley was superbly illuminated and of the freshest green; all that spoilt it were a number of halfwits, as always, and a new civilisation which is highly inappropriate in his beautiful region.
But i think, we have the same situation everywhere around the world ... meanwhile
Thanks for your great hamster pics ...
Das Tal war herrlich beleuchtet und vom frischesten Grün; nur durch eine Menge Trotteln, wie immer, und durch eine neue, in dieser schönen Gegend höchst unpassenden Zivilisation verunstaltet.

Jack, I respect you and I'm a part of the "Remain" camp, too, but there were people out there who had understandable reasons to vote Leave, and you can't say that they were mostly racist or ill-informed.
I feel like this Jon Pie video conveys it best: www.youtube.com/watch?v=eEaEBm…

And so the first person who responded to this has—instead of replying with something like a constructive argument—decided to strawman, shame and block me. Well, Hoshiko, if you're still around, allow me to give you my two cents:
I said outright that I was part of the "Remain" camp. I personally and strongly believe, as I have believed since before the original referendum even happened, that staying in the EU and using that oppurtunity to find other methods to solve what issues we have would have been the best choice. I'm just trying to explain that I do not think the oversimplification that "all Leave voters are thick" is rational since, beyond them making up half the fucking country, it was in some cases literally just a difference of opinion. Both camps had understandable arguments. And...did you even watch the video?
Yes, I am aware of the xenophobic behaviors of some Brexiteers. I am also aware of the poorly-informed Brexiteers that were quoted above, too. Always have. But to say that Leave voters only fit into these two boxes is a sensationalist answer, and it prevents us from properly considering alternate viewpoints.

To be honest if the halfwits who did vote even had a clue, they would have voted remain and we wouldn't even be having this conversation.
Also if you're getting defensive, it seems you personally have some guilt and are looking for any reason to support your moronic, immoral decision.

The 'rule' of the EU... last I checked, we didn't need to ask the EU for permission to vote on leaving, but that's exactly what we have to do with the UK.
That's the problem with this facile argument: not all political unions are the same.
We'd have had far more political power over our own affairs had we left the UK and stayed in the EU than what will now be the case (VAT, defence, constitutional changes, minimum wage...), especially as Westminster are intending to reserve those powers they regain from the EU -- meaning they get even more power and we're no better off, given we're losing our farming, renewable energy, education and minority language grants into the bargain.
That's even before we get into being promised federalism/full fiscal autonomy/home rule if we stayed. What did we actually get? Control over income tax and road signage, and we had to fight for the former!
Then there's voting power: the House of Commons has 650 seats, of which Scotland gets 59 and England 533. In the EU Parliament, there are 750 seats, of which the largest portion goes to Germany... at 99. The UK gets 72, drawing with France and Italy for second greatest number of seats. Oh, how I weep for such an unfair situation for the poor UK... *eye roll*
EDIT: Also, look at that graphic. We're being pulled out when we emphatically voted to stay, so I want to hear no more whining about the 'authoritarian' EU.

I respect your opinion that’s fine. However, what I want to point out is the irony of the Scots who want independence from the UK yet want to be part of a undemocratic European Union who would control every aspects of your lives instead of just being your own sovereign nation.
However I don’t see the prospect of Scotland seeking independence as Nicole Sturgeon’s went down parliamentary seats in this year’s election. Though I could be wrong, since politics seem to go back and forth these days.

That's the thing though, the EU don't have anywhere near that level of power; they control a few things, sure, but members countries still retain almost all of their autonomy.
In a way, you're right; being in the EU is less democratic than being out of it, but in terms of what powers we give away, we'd be doing much the same stuff on our own, and membership's great for us economically, particularly given our population growth is negative; we need few barriers to immigration or we won't have a workforce. Doesn't matter what other arguments you make here, if our economy collapses due to labour shortages, we're fucked.
The SNP lost seats, it's true, but having won 56 out of 59 seats in the previous term, they were always going to, even before the unionist parties banded together oust them the following term (seriously, then Scottish Labour leader, Kezia Dugdale, told Labour voters to support the Lib Dems and Tories if it would get the SNP out). The SNP still won 35 seats though, and the second largest party in Scotland are the Tories, with only 13 seats there, which makes GE2017 the third election in a row the SNP have won with a second referendum in their manifesto... that said I couldn't believe Yes didn't win last time, so once bitten, twice shy.
All in all, our current political situation has me pulling my hair out and ranting at strangers (evidently).

Alright far enough have fun with your independence, St. George Crosses with a green background look better anyway. Though I suggest doing independence soon, as the EU doesn’t look like it’s going to last much longer in the near future, etc.

Yes but all empires fall, because they always overextend their resources in the end. For Brittain it was when they went into world war one, a fatal mistake.
What we need is nation-states, that are sovereign and only trade with others without trying to dominate them.
If Britain had only looked out for Britain they would never have joined that war, but they feared losing influence on the continent to Germany, influence they should never have had to begin with, and because of that what could have been called "The Balkan war of 1914" or at worst "The second Franco-Prussisian war" turned into "The Great War"
That is what empires always ends up doing. They claim they want peace, where in truth they desire only submission, and they always meet an external force that refuses to submit.
I really hope that the American empire can just die quietly, that history wont repeat once again, because I don't know how we can survive a third world war with the weapons we have today.
