Description Last of a series to help get acquainted with Photoshop. The final one was done in CS3. This is not my favorite - the crop is bad and the figure should be better; probably send it to scraps soon enough.

NOW I'll read the tutorials. Bass ackward as usual

eh - at least it's not the RAM, I installed more to handle graphic files. I'm making these things HUGE because I'm not comfortable with the zoom tool yet. Then I trash the entire file so it doesn't clog the computer. . . I have a record of the work here, and it's just practice work anyway for now.

what do u save them as? .psd? .tiff? .jpeg?
i'm not sure I understand what u mean about the zoom tool. What's uncomfortable about it? Cs3 seems to be a pile of problems 0.-

I save them as .psd - if that means photoshop. When I'm done I make it a JPEG (I know it duplicates) so I can post it here. the Zoom - the little magnifying lens tool. I'd heard if you magnify an area of a relatively small 'canvas' it has a larger workspace feel. I wish I knew alot more about this so I could communicate more effectively - it has to be confusing trying to understand what I actually am trying to say. I just don't know how to say alot of this stuff to computer literate people

I use that slider tool at the top right side of the screen to enlarge and pullback from the picture, it's smoother to do than going to the tool box on your left side clicking and adjusting on what you want.

I had that trouble too with the time clock cursor. CS3 never worked right for me, it was way too much machine for my computer. I've had to go running back to DA looking for tutorials on what I was doing wrong so many times before i just stuck with oc. OC tutorials are pretty much the same as the PS tuts and easier to fellow.

Open Canvas. it's the one i used to color most of my work and as you can see it's really cruddy at times.

When I scan stuff in I usually make it several inches bigger all round. When I'm working on it I constantly zoom in and zoom out. I try to work zoomed out for periods of time to see the composition as a whole. Then I zoom in to fix up details and create textures. It's always important to stand back and take a look at it altogether though

yah - a scanner is going to be so niiiiiice And I have been trying to zoom out & in for just those reasons. I think the only thing keeping me from getting a scanner or combo is, any more new techonology - in the next 48 hours, I think - will make my head implode :head - imploding emoti:

actually
i think u will feel a lot better once you get a scanner simply because it's so much less overwhelming when you can do half the work comfortably before reworking it on the computer. So much more relaxing and easy to accomplish than working from scratch on the comp.

Hey !!!! It looks like you are suffering with PS, but the results are promising ! Indeed, I like the colors : his skin, his hair suit him.
I like this Severus, He's very credible for me. I mean, he's thin and looks flimsy (that's interesting), he has his long nose, flat hair...Here, we can imagine him in childhood, in his adolescence also - but it's somehow clear that he's an adult.

I *knew* you would like this one I was saying to myself, so thin, insubstantial, ascetic, and near the end, I have to make him more substantial - no, will like him

Vizen In reply to joeyv7 [2008-04-15 15:43:52 +0000 UTC]

lol, really ????? *very flattered and amused*...Yep, indeed, I like him like that also... I mean, he can look very masculine, but somehow ascetic as you say, yes, that's possible...I can imagine this poor boy in childhood or adolescence, - how he should have felt somehow vulnerable - if you compare with certain athletic guys... - and finally choose to have his revenge in books and dark magic...

The Severus I can't stand is the one with white teeth and standard 'comic strip' look !!!!

I hear you - about his childhood/adoloescence, interesting aspect I hadn't thought of before. Had to be so much resentment/desperation/rage there

Oui - the one I can't abide is . . . AR clones that look like a bloated parrot.

Teeny bit o blood? Hasn't he been killed enough ?

And I love how your digital art has the same feel as your traditional work.

hee hee - thanks . . . but the poor guy's happy. I appreciate the comment about digi vs traditional. I'm surprised I like digital as much as I do, but I wouldn't want it to be more important than the work itself So far it's just a cool tool.

Thanks This series was about dreams and the premonition of death, Red = blood. The last was about acceptance and release. It's not the best profile, but he looks peaceful and almost happy - the blood is misleading
