Description This is kinda self-explanatory, so I'll talk about something else.

-HBP spoilers-

I've noticed, that after reading the 6th book, that I have been drawing a lot of Snape. A bit peculiar, seeing as how I never drew Snape before finishing the HBP, except for an occasional doodle. So I've been pondering why this is so.

I reread Spinners End yesterday, and was very distressed at the whole thing, and I came to terms with it and my denial several weeks ago. All that evidence. Snape is evil. He is. I was so convinced. And depressed. And then, there it was in my mind again.

"And should it prove necessary...if it seems Draco will fail..." Whispered Narcissia (Snape's hand twitched within hers, but he did not draw away),..." pg. 36 HBP

That twitch! It brought it all back! Regardless of how the book ended, Dumbledore trusted Snape! There must have been a reason, and there must have been a reason for that twitch! Has Snape gone past the thought of right or wrong? Or, what is wrong? What about Draco's life? What about Dumbledore's plead on the tower?

Remember Wormtail? In Spinners End? He was spying on Snape. Was it for Voldemort? Maybe Voldemort doesn't trust Snape that much. But Dumbledore does! Or does he? He never gave Snape the DADA until now. Was that lack of trust? Was it because he didn't want Snape to take that cursed position? No. It must have been trust. Dumbledore gave Lupin the job once. It's not about protection.

Snape seems indifferent about Wormtail. Is it because Voldemort's back? Remember when he was trying to catch Sirius? If Snape was a faithful Deatheater would he have went after Black like that? A supposed follower of Voldemort? Or was it just out of hate for Sirius as a person? Maybe he did seriously change to the good side, but since the Dark Lord returned he had to make a choice. He chose Malfoy's life, and Narsicca's happiness.

What about the twitch? Was that a turning point? Snape, Mr. stoic, showing a sign of "weakness" like that? Or was it fear of Dumbledore? I don't think so...

What about:
"DON'T-" screamed Snape, his face was suddenly demented, inhuman, as though he was in as much pain as the yelping. howling dog stuck in the burning house behind them-- "CALL ME A COWARD!"
pg. 604 HBP
In as much pain as the yelping, howling dog? That can't be because of Harry's words. Can it? Or can it?........

There is so much to wonder.

I think that I draw Snape to keep the old feelings of fondness for Snape alive. And, I'm deciding now, that if Snape does turn out to be evil, I will still remember that sinister old Professor of Potions in his black robes, greasy hair, and stooped shoulders, who was always able to make us laugh.

Nostalgia:
Snape as quidditch ref-- Limping after fluffy's bite-- Harry finding Filch mending his leg-- Lockhart irritating him on valentine's day-- Snape trying, relentlessly, to get Harry expelled, and looking as though Christmas was canceled when he failed-- Those many snide remarks-- The Egg and The Eye pajama party--The Parting of the Ways, when he showed Fudge the Dark Mark angrily, standing up for Dumbledore--Giving Umbridge a false Viritasserum--That meeting at the OotP headquarters with Harry and Sirius--Him running around and checking the order after Harry said that they've got Padfoot--and Scrimgeour's party, when he was pulled out of thin air--And the countless other times Snape has touched my hart.

There is so much more to talk about, but my mind moves faster than my fingers. So just remember all you Snapers:
"Don't count your OWLS before they're delivered" -Albus Dumbledore, HBP

I like the light in his eyes. The gaze is very penetrating.

(and of course now we know the full story on our Snape...)

Now that we've read the Deathly Hallows, we know that your analysis was correct. He was a complex man indeed. RIP Severus Snape.

There's an R. Crumb quality to this that I really like. The intensity of his stare is awesome.

I like your analysis. I'd be really disappointed in Rowling if she makes him just flat out evil. Another point for your argument: When harry calls him a coward he gets REALLY upset. If Snape was really just plain evil he would not have reacted the way he did. Re-read that scene

Yeah! I totally agree! I mean, I don't blame Harry for assuming Snape's evil, I just believe there is something more.
p.s. I wanna reread them all again before The Deathly Hallows comes out...but I may be biting off more than I can chew.

I agree! Snape has to be good! It would be to easy for him just to be evil. If it looks like a duck and sounds like a duck, it doesn't have to be a duck. I don't think so, anyway.

Thankyou.

Your description was the shiz. It said so little regarding certainty about anything, but still says so much about so much. I could comment on everything you said, but I think I'll save it.
The Snape Nostalgia bit was very sweet. Touching, like!

The picture rocks! It's such just like a perfect Snape portrait! Not too angsty, nor too sexy.
I lllluuuuuurve it!

Yeah, the Snape Nostalgia was very sad to me. Probably more so because I was listening to Phantom at the time.

Thanks. It's important to keep balance. Isn't it?

Hell yes! I'll never let that down. Even if JKR comes right out and says: "Snape's Evil!" I'll say: "Oh, no, Miss Rowling. For you see, his hand twitched."
