Very nice! However, I think you are misusing DoF a bit; it's main use is to hide unwanted background detail, but here you are blurring stuff that you also want to show.

Pretty nice scene!! I like your DOF and the actors int he background! Rather Romeo and Juliet except the centaur version.

Nah, I think it looks fine !
It's quite possible that he might have based his play off of it!
LOL, yeah many of them do !

First, really well done, Joe!
This is a really stunning picture.
Second, the DOF got me a bit torn. We've talked about dof some, and you know how I'm sometimes too careful with dof and want the background to be more prominent.
This is a example where I personally would like less, or maybe even NO, dof. And it has nothing to do with the execution, nor your fine abilities!
To me it has to do with the feelings, associations and personal preferences.
Let me explain.
Due to your excellent composition of this picture, I started to associate it to those old oil paintings of greek gods and the like. You know, where there are alot of facial emotions and sometimes small fat baby angels and other things that
doesn't make sense. Like this: www.brushwiz.com/images/painti…
Your picture has alot of that going on! Like why is the Hylonome character even there when it seems like the battle is still raging? A lot of the emotional expressions and behaviour are also similar.
That is why I think dof makes this picture more like a photograph than a painting, which would be my preference. I think that would've been awesome!
But as I said, I'm torn, because it is still stunning as it is!
And please don't read too much into my feedback, it's mostly just a part of our discussion of dof.
Thanks for this one, it is a favourite!

I thought you might have tried different F/stops.
Nah, you didn't go too far.
It's just interesting how such a simple thing as dof can put the same picture in different moods, associations, and feel to it.
Don't let our discussion get in your head too much, the result is stunning!! :-D

nope... you focus on the essential. The rest is cool but not really important.
