Description hey guys a long long time ago since my last Journal, I've had such a wonderful time at ILM working with the best of the best in the computer graphics world, I have worked in some really amazing films and for all of you transformers fans, just wait to see this new movie I totally support the reviews about the 3D Stereo, it's mind blowing and totally amazing! if you see what I did for Transformers war at Cybertron , that's nothing compared to what I did for this film , which is actually the very first shot after the paramount pictures logo, hopefully Lucasfilm will let me use some images to show later on
I updated my gallery with one artwork that I had always wanted to do, even though I'm a matte painter / environment artist I enjoy from time to time working on characters like this Eddie the Head from Iron Maiden , I have some other stuff I will upload more soon, stay tuned!

Stunning, i want to be a director, and a writer one day. Scifi, dramas, fantasy epics. Maybe one day. and some day even compose music for those films.

Cgi is a big spectrum my pc isnt powerful enough to even attempt. Though i have been sculpting and having fun with Blender and free programs and such.

And ill take your advice with photo manipulation and painting practice.

Well done mate. I'm looking forward to seeing the new transformers movie & will be looking out for all your hard work. Hopefully you can post some of the work you've done at ILM soon.

Do you have any advice on what 3D software is best to invest in for matte painting?

hey , I have been using 3ds max, brazil or mental ray and that's all I need, but some other studios use maya, so either maya or max would do the job

Thank you for the advice man. I appreciate it! Hopefully 2D matte artists will still be in demand for sometime yet until I can purchase & learn Maya or max!

It's Sad that some art forms are lesser known now because of today's technology.

Puppeteers and some seriously awesome things like that do not seem as popular any more.

I want to see more movies where everything is made with models and tricks and effects.

There's also something about the original set pieces being kept.

yeah there is something about the look of the original starwars, and when watching the first 3 indiana jones movies you think 'wow how did they do that?' now if a movie did the same thing you would just think 'its cg'

movies should try to keep as much physical special effects as possible, and only use visual effects where nessesary like in transformers or something like that

Indeed, even though i hate that movie, lol. I love the little models they use, and plus years from now people will be like "Oh... that the ship from Starcrashers 3, i loves that movie" and theres something to hold

There are at Autodesk free student licenses (3 years). I don't know if you are in that category so just to let you know.
