This was drawn over three evenings using only the airbrush (and undo and eraser) tool in Sketchbook Pro.

Thanks, to be honest for digital paintings I only use the airbrush, colour picker and soft eraser, resizes brushes as needed. I don't use any special techniques. SketchBook Pro just makes selecting and resizing brushes so effortless and intuitive.
