NaArMaMo 2008, Day 1: Adipose BabyDoctor Who fan art featuring one of the Adipose babies from the series 4 episode Partners In Crime.
This is my first piece for this year's (Inter)National Art Making Month, in which you create a new piece of art every day in August.
The piece was drawn on a tablet PC using the airbrush tool under a (removed) sketch drawn by sight from two reference pictures. Total time taken was 2.5 hours, 15 minutes of which was the original sketch.
I'm very happy with how this turned out, although it looks like it's either pointing at something just over the viewer's shoulder (or doing the disco dance from Saturday Night Fever!).

My birthday is March 24th and my aunt knows how big a DW fan I am so she tried to order that TARDIS cake from Asda (the yummy one with the Doctor standing in the open TARDIS door) but they don't ship overseas. i guess maybe because the cake wouldn't hold up, but i was so upset. she doesn't have an oven so she couldn't make one so i had to settle for this picture of a TARDIS cake on her PC screen

We tried that here but no one would do it which is odd. Not even the ones who claim to custom make cakes would do it
The photo she found though wasn't that yummy pic of him in the door. She found one that someone had made on their own. It was a three dimensional TARDIS but it was really short and squat like someone had taken a huge sledgehammer and smushed it lol!

LOL! It's a nice attempt though. Alot better than what I could have done. I would have just made it a flat 2D cake. There were some other pictures where it did look proportioned so I guess it can be done 
Now I wanna see someone try to make a 3D Doctor. There's this show called Ace of Cakes where they make specialty cakes and really unusual looking ones. If anyone could do it, it'd probably be them.

They are. I wish I had that kind of skill. I love watching the show just to see the cakes. I was searching on that wrecked cakes to see if they had one and apparently they don't which is great!
My other favorite is the one where you order the dog with the bow from the picture and they had those crappy looking ones. I would get my money back. That and the dog with the runny face lol!

ET was hillarious!!! lol! I don't remember ET having bit bloodshot green eyes and it did look like a mummy. There was one that looked really realistic. I think it was done for a birth and the baby looked real, too real! The lady thought it was creepy and I did too.
On the good cake side, i loved the muppet show one and the mario cakes!

I just finished all of it. OMG, it is. It's very addicting! Some of them were just so hilarious. I don't decorate cakes and I could do a better job than some of them. And all the stuff in quotation marks too lol!

Being a writer, that just annoys the crap outta me. I'm assuming they've at least had some basic english courses, but then again judging from some of the ways they spelled things...
I loved the boy/girl cake too. the poor girl who had eeyore in the corner lol!That and the ugly holloween colors with the pink roses on top. some of these people must be color blind. oh and the lady who sued after they messed up her tartan cake. i would too.

I have a soft spot for the spelling mistakes or spacing issues, especially when combined with some other terrible gaffe. You sort of wonder if some of these don't actually usually customise cakes, then someone comes in with a request and they think 'how hard can it be?'. Harder than they think apparently!

Well, I guess that one guy who lost the order and had to wipe the lettering off the cake and then misspelled things probably felt that way. LOL! the least he could have done was get some more chocolate frosting and cover up the enormous wipe mark there so it wouldn't look so obvious!
I also love the ones that actually spell out the directions on the cakes and the one that did the edible ink and it was that weird computer mumbo jumbo under the happy birthday lol!
