the haze of pollution is so annoying while you are in a big city (for example Guangzhou where i have been few years ago) and especially around this time of the year, its warm and muggy
but the places outside the town, like parks are just awesome to look at ^^

i've heard that the haze is worse in winter since it somehow gets mixed up with the fog and creates dangerous driving conditions since you can't see the car 1 feet in front of you D:

you really need to stick out your head out of the car to see things then
(or try to use a vacuum cleaner to suck all the haze and the fog up!
