I haven't read it but apparently it is exactly the same, no dialogue or scene is different, besides the anime having a few additional scenes. But I do recommend watching it, it is very dramatic c:

It's pretty dark but awesome at the same time. Saying that I love delightfully dark themes in stories.

I highly recommend the Monster series (manga) I haven't seen the anime yet but this character is the main bad guy and I love him ;D

Indeed, Johan is such a character, probably one of my fave villains! Such a good thriller/drama
