Description
Art for my book, Hawk Divine. Now available in paperback and on Kindle .
A shadow woman dances in the moonlight, backlit and lithe, her movements are slow and predatory. She moves toward me, her form growing smaller as she merges with the silhouettes of hedges and sheds, eyes glinting in the dark, mad as gold. Then something else stirs in the gloom. -- Finding the Sun (Bast), Hawk Divine
Written and fully illustrated by yours truly, Hawk Divine features my eight Egyptian Gods portrait series, as well as previously unseen work. Eight short stories unfold in a modern context, exploring aspects of each of the eight deities presented. Syncretic, supernatural and definitely different, I really hope you enjoy it!

Nope. Has possibly been represented that way by someone at some point, but never been a 'must'.

This be an interesting interpretation of the Goddess, although as an Eye of Ra, She would be more suited to a sunny background. Still, the lunar sky fits Her well too.

Bast was heavily associated with the moon by the Ancient Greeks that occupied Ancient Egypt toward the end of its civilization. Sekhmet was more the Eye of Ra aspect.

...The-Necromancer refers to the pre-Greek influences. If one really wanted to get very specific, Bast represented the Lower Egyptian pantheon while Sekhmet represented the Upper Egyptian. It was not until the unifying of Egypt that Bast began to take on the more domesticated cat symbolism. As with all Kemetic deities, there was a great deal of shuffling, absorbing, and certainly redefining of Bast over the centuries.
The-Necromancer presumes you already know this, but it is for clarity's sake. As Bast was an Eye of Ra and solar goddess during Her pre-Hellenic existence, it was something worth pointing out.

Great picture, very befitting the Cat Goddess.
A nice project; any chance you'd make one of Khonsu or Horus?
