Description
Valentina offered her opponent in the corner a sly grin as her cornerman cleaned her up. This match had gone into the fourth-of-five rounds, and she could feel everything going her way. This fight was only a couple of months removed from her previous one, but since she hadn’t taken much damage in that one, she was quick to recover and take on this one.
Good thing for her, too, because it meant she could teach Argantael another lesson.
The redhead, much like their previous bout, fought from the backfoot from the very start. She may have been more skilled than Valentina, but this was quickly turning into yet another instance of Sato’s greater strength putting theory to rest.
About the only thing not going her way in this fight was the crowd. Where their last match was in neutral territory, so to speak, this one was in the Frenchwoman’s backyard. A gym in Paris put on a small event, inviting the two competitors to join in on the card. Sophia had intended to use this card to begin her push to the next weight class up. Valentina, upon seeing Sophia’s name on the card, jumped at the chance to take another win off of her.
Given the crowd’s heated reaction to the direction the match was taking so far, there was no mistake who was winning.
The bell rang, indicating the start of the final round. Both women got to their feet, Sophia with more noticeable effort than Valentina. The two met in the center of the cage once again, hands at the ready for whatever offense the other might offer.
Valentina, seeing Sophia already bruised and hurting, took the initiative once again, leading with sharp jabs aimed at the Breton’s face. The Japanese-American warrior wasn’t untouched herself, sporting her own set of bruises along her body, but the damage she’d taken wasn’t nearly as much as she’d given, if the swelling eye that made it difficult for Sophia to defend against the strikes was any indication.
Despite several of the punches breaking through the redhead’s defense, Sophia managed to keep herself on her feet, trying to weather the storm to find an opening.
But that opening never came. Before she could make one offensive maneuver, Valentina lashed out with a kick to the Breton’s side. The kick found the perfect target, sending a massive wave of pain through Sophia as the kick struck her in the liver. The explosion of agony was too much for her to take, and her brain shut down almost immediately, causing the Frenchwoman to collapse to the ground.
Seeing Sophia drop, Valentina immediately sprang forward. If the referee wasn’t going to cut her off, then she was going pile on the damage. She climbed onto Sophia, dropping hammer fist after hammer fist onto the Breton’s face until the official eventually pulled her off. It was then that Valentina realized the boos intensified, both at the sight of their local fighter losing and Valentina punishing her further.
She took one deep breath, sighing heavily before walking out of the cage, flipping the crowd off as she left without an official announcement.

While doing a writeup for some artwork I commissioned, I realized that I had alluded to a couple of fights that Sophia had lost before going up in weight class that I had never had depicted. So this dual commission is taking care of that.
So what we have here is a little trip down memory lane, showing one of those fights, with the artwork courtesy of Axzibit and the story to go with it courtesy of MysticDeadman
