Description Awesome! 1k views!! Thanks to you awesome people for at least looking at this!

Edit 04/32/2012: Corrected a few of my errors inside. Just a few small ones though. Such as the start button, if you've got a theme that shows the "start" text, said "respond" rather than "start." That was actually part of another old project I'd abandoned long ago. I didn't realize it was still there Also, in some of the text, it said Windows XP, which I changed to Windows 7. I also edited the readme.txt; it now gives instructions on how to change your My Computer back to its original icon.

NOTE: The taskbar and transparent window borders have nothing to do with the Explorer replacement. The taskbar is due to my own editing of VG's Windows 7 visual style for windows XP. Also, the window borders are the result of BorderSkin, a fantastic window border replacement that, as you can see, very perfectly replicates Windows 7/Vista borders, with most of the functionality. If that's what you're looking for, this isn't it.
Also, this isn't an exact clone of the Windows 7 explorer.exe, but rather the old XP one with the style of Windows 7. If I can make a clone, I'll see if I can get around to it. But I think this is kinda cool anyways.

Update 07/08/2011: Redid it a little, so it should be slightly better. Should be 'bout perfect now.

Tiny update: On the date on the clock in the taskbar properties window, I changed it from 12/15/2010 to 12/21/2012 just for kicks

I started on this a while back, but for some reason left it for a while. Although, for the whole period of time I had stopped working on it, I had been using it. One day, I was wondering if I had any projects that I should finish, and waddaya know, this comes on my screen. So I finished it. And I hope everyone who downloads it enjoys it

Oh!!! And yes, my OS is XP. I didn't do photoshop or anything to the preview image you see above.

The taskbar came from using just a Windows 7 theme for XP. The icons on the taskbar came from using ViGlance (which was really good). As for the desktop icons, all I actually have is the Windows 7 icons and the icon size upped to 48p instead of 32p, easily achieved in XP's settings. The window borders I got using a cool program called BorderSkin and a Windows 7 themed skin for it. Beware though- while BorderSkin is the best window border program I found, it can be a little buggy (at least, from when I last used it- I no longer have any XP systems, so I don't know if it's been updated or not).

Your desktop icons look exactly like 7's! How did you do that?

J-Lindo In reply to Dark-Knight193 [2011-10-21 18:46:32 +0000 UTC]

Are you talking about the icons themselves or the size?
For size, you go for right click on the desktop, Properties, click on Appearance, click on Effects, and check Use Large Icons.

If you mean the icons themselves, click Properties, then click Desktop, then click on Customize Desktop, then click on one of the desktop icons shown, and click Change Icon. And find an icon file or a file with an icon in it and put it to that. Voila

No, both of them, I mean the font of ur icons is perfect (Clear Type and shadow...)

J-Lindo In reply to Dark-Knight193 [2011-10-22 22:12:00 +0000 UTC]

The font? Easy. Right click, Properties. Appearance, Effects. Where it says "Use the following method to smooth edges of screen fonts:" there is a drop-down menu under it. Click it and select ClearType. Click OK, then click OK. Voila! You also might wanna download the Segoe Font somewhere. Or find the file on Vista or 7 and put it onto XP.

Yeah I did a while back but then Microsoft updated the thing and brought back all the old XP icons and I never got around to re-doing it.

it doesnt change the taskbar and window borders, if that's what you're worried about.

if those arent it, what is everyone else not wanting to change?

Psh. All you gotta do is put the original explorer.exe that you replaced (and hopefully backed up somewhere?) back in its spot. Easy!
