I was extremely lazy with my painting method on this pic, and you know what kinda makes me $h*t about that fact ?!

Well it's probably one or my best acrylic painting ever; and on a small surface !!!

I mean , come on, I'm sure that If I had followed the usual method this pic would have been missed, or, at least, not worthing to be viewed !

Basically, I DIDN'T used the classical method , meaning working with several coats of paintings, over and over. Acrylic are very transparent stuff; modest opacity, so that's why It's not really a good thing to paint directly, with the full colors, directly from your tubes.

Once the very first values were applyed

I went for more diluated colors, more using the OIL technic, meaning using glazes.

Since acrylics are platic, you quickly find a big trouble about glazes : it's very liquid; and I ask you the $100000000 question:
what happens when you put water on a platic surface ?!

YES!!! the water isn't correclty absorbed, then you can't have a whole clean glaze.

Several tips:
1st/ your glazes must be done with diluated acrylics colors, not watercolors, it WON'T works.
2nd/ if you use glazes at , say; 50 % of your WIP, then you are at a step where your glazes are not extremly diluated, and then you won't find any troubles.

For LAST glazes, the ones that help you giving more saturated hues, or to correct some tones.
1/pray
2/ it's generally not a method you use with the acrylics. it's typically an OIL stuff.
3/Me having an airbrush, I have no problems, as I can give the pic colors with more or less opacity without too much water (that one of the purpose of the airbrush)

LAST TIPS: using a very very very very low opacity YELLOW glaze at the end of your pics (say a color diluated at..... 80%) generally help achieving a more saturated/clean/bright result. Don't do that for pics where action takes place in iced areas however.
