Description A calligraphy piece I did a while back. I tried to embody the quote in the piece itself by breaking some of the more familiar calligraphy rules.

I really like how this piece came together. I pulled up your gallery wondering which piece I should comment on and this one caught my eye right away. I think it's creative and I love how you mixed writing styles. The word "creativity" is fun and spontaneous and the word "certainties" is consistent and even. I think this is true in both senses about letting go what is normal or safe and letting go and let your mind wander to entertain different ideas. I also think you chose a good color for the word "courage". It lets us know that this is something that we need to focus on and keeps the color broken up throughout. I know I rambled on a bit, but I hope it makes sense. Overall, you did a great job!

Thank you - that's exactly what I was going for with the different styles of texts for "creativity" and "certainties". Thanks for taking the time to write out all that, I really like getting feedback with more of an explanation to it

Hey I like this. But I think you could have taken it even further. Because right now the beginning is really fun and colorful while the end is a little bit boring. You could at least done something with 'certainties.'

Perhaps made a font similar to Times New Roman and pitch black, to show the difference between trying out new things with the colorful 'creativity' text and the old, safe 'certainties' text.

And perhaps a little bit of glint on the Courage would have bee a good thing, to make it look like sparkling gold. Makes me think of that old phrase 'A heart filled with courage, and made out of gold.'

And I think making a little bit of co lour splashed around the 'creativity' text would have fitted well. Well that is only me. I still love the message in this. But you could have taken I further I think.

Still, I have looked through your gallery and seen a lot of cool stuff in there. I shall look at it further …

Hope I helped!

Trix

Thanks for your suggestions! If you emphasize too many things then sometimes you can end up emphasizing nothing but I like the ideas about the seriffed dark black font and the colours around 'creativity'. I'll bear them in mind for future calligraphy work.

Glad you liked the gallery so far as well

It's someone else's. If it had been mine I would probably have put it in visual poetry instead of calligraphy.

Is this a quote that you made up or one that someone else said?

How creativity deviates from the straitness of the other words is nice. ^^

Thanks, I'm glad you like it! This was some of the "outline calligraphy" that I do sometimes, i.e. drawing the calligraphy then colouring it in rather than just using a calligraphy pen. It meant I could shade the letters individually.
