"Must you go? Really?" Midas' eyes shone with unshed tears, tears of worry and sadness. He never wished to lose his mate. They had promised a forever together, yet it seemed the end of that forever may have looming faster than either of them had ever expected. Offering his mate a gentle smile, Khan tried his best to stay optimistic. He didn't wish to leave really. He didn't know what he was supposed to do without Midas near. He was the only one who understood him. The only one he could really stand. But he had to go, and Midas knew that. Seemed to sense his hesitance, but he didn't want him to refuse just on his behalf. He had a duty to do. "I will be there when you are done. I will be with you every step along the way, even if I am not in sight." Then, without another word, he stepped forward and nuzzled into the taller stallion's neck, taking a moment to just lean into him, the thought that it may be for the last time still playing on his mind.
"Would you like my to let him know?" Midas spoke up as he stepped away after a few moments, glancing to where their son was currently playing before glancing back to the darker stallion who shook his head. "He should hear this from me. I promise I will go gently on him," Khan added when he noticed the worried glint in his mate's eyes, flashing him a smile before walking towards the foal.
With his mate looking on from a distance, Khan cleared his throat when he reached the young foal, and cleared his throat in an attempt to get his son's attention away from the butterfly he was busy chasing. But, as playful he was, he would never ignore his father, and the young one quickly span round with a rather pleased smile. It was heartbreaking having to ruin his happiness, and Khan had always promised him he would never leave him, but it seemed he was having to break every promise he'd made that day. And with quiet words, the stallion began explaining what he was having to do, and what it meant for their little family. He could see his son's expression falling with every word, until he too looked to be on the verge of tears.
"Coriolanus, look at me," Khan spoke once he had finished. He reached over and gave his foal's cheek a gentle nuzzle, wiping away a tear. "You must be strong for me, understand? I need you to make sure your dad is okay, and to keep the humans in line while I'm away. Can you do that?" Sniffing away another lot of tears, the foal sighed and nodded. He looked up at his father then hurried close to lean into his chest, trying his best not to cry. "We will find a new home, I promise. And I will be back with you before you know it. There is nothing that will keep me from you," Khan whispered to him, wishing to the lords that would be the one promise he could keep.
