Description EDIT: I kind of feel sort of embarrassed of this one now for its mistakes, but I still love it nonetheless.

concept image idea for "Isaia"my story of a girl who lives in the late 1800's/early 1900's and travels halfway across the world to see her last remaining relative.

(lol any discrepancies and mistakes in historically and geographically accurate clothing and inherited genetics and DNA are to be expected...since I was lazy and did like, ZERO cultural research ..and since the scanner totally almost fudged the original colors *weeps*)

And please, no stealing. "Stealing makes war. War is bad. People Die."

It's a little creepy how much I love this thing.

It's just amazing, I really want to see these characters interact and how they all eventually got together (my favorite would probably have to be the monk, but it's hard to choose)

I know it's a bit odd to be commenting on this years later but still <3. (The fact that I totally ship all these guys is pretty sad though)

Wow!!! I just saw this on someone else's favorites and clicked, but this is beautiful! I love the story the pictures and lines tell. There's so much there, but its simplicity keeps it understandable! I love this. It's beautiful.

LAJKSDhlaskfhalskhjf I love love LOVE yuor family trees. The Maldonian Royalty tree made me stare at it in fascination as well and this one's just glorious. I think it's amazing how you can create such different personages that somehow tell uw something about their character from just one drawing, and how they all have something from their mother and father in them but still are more than just a mash-up of their facial characteristics.

I remember seeing this picture when you first posted it on deviantart. I loved it then and I still love it now. You didn't just draw characters, you drew a story fleshed out with different personalities across time.
Thank you for being so awesome

Oh my god.
This is like Chicken Noodle Soup for the History Nerd's Soul.
I could spend HOURS looking at this. Really, I wish I could. The expressions are beautiful and the clothing and the asfghjklasdfghjkl everything! Like other people mentioned, I adore how it's like old-time American photography on the left and Asian silk painting (or something like that) on the right. And how those two styles seems to mesh togethor when it gets to that girl, Isaia. Best piece of art I've seen lately

And the blue eyes of the little girl probably come from beyond the edge of the picture. XD

This... I just have to favorite this. It's so lovely to stare at. You have a very pretty style!

I like the color contrast: earthy brown on one side, grayish blue on the other. And the subtle similarities between the two sides of the family make me happy.

Also... top hats and glasses FTW.

Awesome! I really love this! It's drawn very well and I enjoy looking at the different expressions portrayed. This drawing really interests me. Do you have a story written to go with it? The Minnesota side does seem pretty accurate. Awesome piece!

TroyM0392 [2009-08-11 14:54:02 +0000 UTC]

Most people from Minnesota are very Scandinavian looking. Blonde hair, Blue eyes.... at least me and all of my relatives are even though we are not Scandinavian.

I believe your Minnesota side is VERY good. The women on that side are very accurate... the only thing I would say is odd is the red haired Frenchman.

Isaia In reply to TroyM0392 [2009-08-11 21:23:34 +0000 UTC]

Thanks!
It's also cool you gave me some interesting input, and

This drawing is just for squeeing over old concepts, Even on the japanese side, I pretend the monk probably traveled from a Kyoto temple to up north in Hokkaido and worked its way further to Nagasaki...

Just as the french fur trapper worked its way from the Great lakes to Canada/Ottawa to the Huron Natives... and his biracial descendants traveled to Minnesota perhaps?

...you've rekindled my inspiration for this concept, thanks!
