Description I have an 'Epic Story' course this semester, and due to the Iliad and Odyssey I started doodling the 9 muses in my book.

I thought it would be a great idea to paint them all in the little time I have. Brilliant idea.

So, this is my version of the muse Melpomene of tragedy, also titled 'the chanting one.'

I want this series to have a soft, ethereal feel to them, hence the pastel palette. I think each demi-goddess will have their own color.

Done in watercolors in a week. Muse 1/9

Beautiful gestures in the hand and body language, as well as the distress in her expression. All depicted in such a lively manner with a very good choice of medium I'd love to see more!
