As for backstory, well, I just sort of felt that Applebloom might be attracted to Snails because he's very simple. In a way that simplicity says a lot about the kind of person he is -- There isn't any facade or falseness, and that is something very rare and special.

I know, but like no one ever really pays that much attention to detail especially that small in the show.

Normally I don't like shipping of the foals as kids instead of teens/adults, but I actually really like this.
